..Gents Hello sorry to be thick BUT is a fixed blade a full tange blade with a handle attached ?
The beckers say they are fixed blades and not sure if this means simply one piece of steel. Anyone please ?

Simon,
"Fixed" means it's not a folding knife. The Beckers are fixed blades made of a single piece of steel and are all full tang. If you look at the handle of any of the Beckers, you'll see three bolts which allow the handles to sandwich the steel -- very solid.

Edit: BTW, the bolts and handle halves can be removed allowing the blade to be cleaned and oil, in case it gets real wet or muddy and you need to dry it out.

A fixed blade simply means that the knife doesn't fold. The Becker knives are full tang knives as well. The term fixed blade applies to all non-folders. Hollow handled knives, stick tang, full tang, half tang, they are all "fixed blade".

Hope this helps.

Beckers are great knives for the money. Can't go wrong with the BK7 for a versitile knife. Can do light chopping, too. Easily found for <$50 shipped (Froogle.com)

(BTW, that's quite a long location message! Probably the most info I've seen for where someone is from! LOL...)
