A little background... I am a former french foreign legionnaire, am a moderator on a Legion website, and have plenty of friends and brothers in arms that are still in the service.
I sent 2 of these friends BK9's for their birthdays. They were, since then, deployed to the jungle of french Guyanna, the desert of the united arabian emirates, to the horn of Africa and the mountains of Afghanistan. One of them is in the 2nd company of the 2nd REP (google it) and serves in extreme cold weather.
Both these men have to rely on their blades. THey don't give a damn about what steel it's made of, they don't care if the scales have a milimeter or 2 of misalignment. They don't know squat about heat treating, or the difference between stock removal and forging. What they know, is how to use a knife. In survival situations, in combat situations, and in camp situations. What can I say? It looks like Becker knives have a steady growing "fan club" since my comrades got theirs. They give their knives an A+ for functionality and lethality. They rant about how well they resharpen in the field, the sturdiness and design.
THis comes from guys who don't know each other, with the same results. If it's good enough for some of the roughest soldiers in the world, I think it's good enough for everybody.

Just my .02

Whoa.......

I walking in the door at work, but I'll be back later to expound some.

If someone's life depends on a knife ... this will be a Becker!

Here's a legion of fanatics these products and we are happy that your friends are enjoying it and getting along with BK ...

Wow, great post. I know I rely heavily on my Becker knives, but nowhere near the extent your guys are using them.

I'd love to see some pics of how they look after a bit of deployment with these guys!

Welcome to our little corner of the asylum! Glad your mates are getting on well with their knives, BK&T really does make a fine blade. As has been said, pics of the knives after being out and about would be brilliant. For some reason we seem to live on pictures of the darling things.

Hi. Frenchman, you have basically said everything! Thanks for having let us know about your friends' feedback, they have made us even happier of becker knives

LOL, the picture requests are fine, and I'll make sure to ask when I write them next time, but of course I can't really promise anything. Usually, they haul 40-45 Kilograms of gear on a mission. I'm not sure they'd drag a camera on top of that. But I'll ask anyway, promised.

Excellent post.
It's nice to hear that the Ka-Bar knives are still serving all around the world in the hands of the world's armed forces.
I, for one, think that the USMC should issue the BK7, as a continuation on the old Ka-Bar USMC Fighting/Utility issuing in WWII.
heck, any Becker issued to any armed force would be fantastic.

Great and amazing post! I can't give a testament to a Becker as a fighting knife, and my experience in the bush is limited in length of time, but the short while ive used mine, it has been used hard. In that time, it has replaced my Esee and United blades, as my go-to hard use knife. I've probably battoned 350 lbs of wood, cleared around 6 acre of brush, used it to trim every tree in my orchard, and have taught my son fire building/making skills. It's my choice for hard use.
Thank you so much, for this post, it has strengthened what I already know about my favorite working knife.

They are pretty stout hunks of quality steel. Not much that can go wrong with them. If they are getting used enough I would not even be too concerned about the high carbon content and rust prevention in jungle or wet conditions. I am sure the powder coat will or has worn off, but if they are used enough the rusting process won't take hold. I was doing some research today regarding steel reactions and the production of sulfur dioxide gas from iron sulfide (happens in steel pipes with certain gasses present). Found an interesting fact that steel is essentially slowly burning (oxidation reduction reaction) from when it is first created. Your buds will certainly get good service out of their Beckers.

Hey Mr. Frenchman......

Thank You ever so much for the kind words about my babies.......It is a real thrill to know that my designs are appreciated and used by pros and you don't get any proer than your friends in the Legion.....Please let them know how proud I am that they are enjoying and using my blades......

Thanks.....

Ethan

Legionnaire's are some of the toughest soldiers on the planet. I've had the pleasure to meet a couple in my life, and find myself richer for it.

If there was ever a group to put a BKT through its paces, the FL would do it.

Thank you Frenchman, for the post, its not very often we get to hear about the BKT's in the hands of guys, doing work for others.
