sold at Ka-Bar dealers?

And here is the reply:

Dear Sir,

The Becker knives should be available for sale this Fall and yes
they will be available thru our dealers.
Just keep looking on our website because the knives will be pictured
there as soon as they are available.

So... looks like I'll be waiting longer than the "May or June" I had previously heard.:grumpy:

Even though I own an original Camillus Becker, I can't wait for KABAR to reintroduce the line.

Yep. My Camillus-made Necker and Crewman have pretty much turned in to safe queens, especially the Crewman that I never used because I bought it right when there was talk of Camillus shutting down. I need a Ka-bar Becker to take out and use! I was as happy as a possum eating persimmons when I heard that Becker had joined with Ka-bar, and this waiting is tough!

I can't wait for the re-introduction of the Becker knives; Those will be some fun days, for sure. This time I'm gonna buy one of everything that's released.

thx - cpr

I too cant wait until Becker Knives are available through Kabar. I have been wanting a becker necker for a while and will be purchasing one as soon as they are available for purchase

So, has anyone heard what kind of steel the new ones with use? I really like the 2 Becker Neckers I currently have, but I also like some of the other models, just not the after market prices. I've heard they'll be 1095, but I don't know accurate that is.

I bought two Beckers as Camillus was closing (Campanion and Combat Utility). I kept waiting for the big closeout sales to buy more, but [sigh] the Beckers were already in short supply by then. Glad I got a couple when I did.

And now I can't wait for the new ones!

Steel is 1095 'pro-ban'. 1-2rockwell less than their old steel; slightly less edge-holding but supposedly much tougher.
"September, for sure."(!)
This link has been posted before, as I'm pretty sure I got it from BFC, but Doug Ritter's interview with Ethan Becker is reassuring & informative: http://www.guntalk.tv/gtv/library.php?category=47 you'll have to click the link to Becker's video.
Looking forward to Becker being back in action!

What is " 1095 'pro-ban' " ? I've seen "Cro Van" advertised , which is IIRC, a 1095 alloy with a bit of chrome and vanadium , not typically in 1095. Could this be what it's referring to? Joe

Ethan Becker actually says 'cro-van'. Pro-ban sounds as if this steel would be illegal..;)
I'm really looking forward to the new Beckers, especially the 'pretty' Necker. I watched the video so many times, and every time it gets worse. My BK7 and BK9 need a little brother!!:D

Morales, when you get the new ones, which ones will get the work, and which will stay at home? I've been thinking on this myself. Both steels should be similar in quality and usefullness. Will the Camillus ones have a higher value to collectors or are there no real collectors to speak of? Still thinking? Joe

Thats' impossible to predict. But since the Camillus Beckers were highly regarded and in short supply, I'd guess they will be sought after by collectors. The prices might actually dip though from the current levels, once the new ones are released.

Personally, my philosophy is that I don't use or carry anything that can't be easily replaced. My Beckers are set aside for safekeeping.

@Joe: I use both of my Beckers, but haven't really put them to the test yet. I paid quite a lot of money for both, cause I wanted them so badly. First I thought, I'd better keep 'em in my drawers, but I soon changed my mind. Beckers should be used imo, they are no beauties you just stare at. It's much more fun to use them and find out what you paid the money for. I'm going to buy Beckers from Ka-Bar (7,9,11 at first) as soon as they are available over here in Germany and compare them with the old ones.
After all, I just wouldn't consider myself to be a knife-collector, I'm more like 'piling' up the knives that appeal to me. And a BK9 needs some chopping every now and then...;)
