I'd like to take the time to introduce myself. My name's Andrew, I've been lurking the becker forum for about 6 months now. I try to check this forum at least 2-3 daily just to see the next custom project that comes from the pits of your minds. It give me more ideas than I have time and funds to support.
After about a month of research and a very close buddy pushing (he's already becker crazy) I broke down and bought my first BK10. From the moment I got home from SMKW I was in love with this thing. With a few trips to woods through the summer I already had the finish wore badly, so off the black came and I forced a patina. Started with 4 hours submerged in lemon juice and followed up with about 3 hours of a mixture of peperoncini juice, brown mustard and Texas Pete. I managed to produce a nice tiger strip pattern.
Not long after acquiring the crewman, my first Father's Day rolled around. The wife surprised me with a bk14 and the zytel scales set. I was pleasantly surprised. I carry it with me daily. I wasn't to pleased with the black finish chipping off, so off it came and another patina was forced. This time I used coffee grounds soaked in apple cider vinegar. Before I done the patina I also added a little jimping to the spine.
Overall I'm extremely happy with performance, durability, and cost of these knives. I couldn't ask for more. Mr. Becker, I would to thank you for bringing to life such edged tools as you have and I hope to see many more models in the future. My wish list is certainly very long and I will continue to add to the Becker family. I won't wait any longer. Here are the photos of my small family.
