I searched to see if there was a thread just on neck rigs. Didn't see one in the Becker forums. Since the BK11 is my most used and carried Becker thought I would show mine. Nothing new here, but this one is special......cause it is MY BK11!!!

Here she is in standard neck carry mode. Originally I wore it like this the longest, works well for summer time carry. In the summer it works well when wearing shorts with no belt, and can be worn just under a t-shirt.

Here she is in right hand standard knife carry, this works well. Not my favorite, but most likely the safest way to carry when concerning the least likely way to lose the blade.

Here is my favorite way to carry it. The Crossdraw. This works well anytime I am wearing a belt which is just about anytime I'm out of the house. It protrudes a bit so it is really handy to grab. It is also the easiest way to get it back in the sheath one handed. All styles of carry allow to get it back in one handed, but this is the fastest for sure.

Here is what I keep with this blade, one Light My Fire Ferro Rod (mini size). About 25 yards of 30 pound test dacron (fly line backing), makes for some good small strong cordage that doesn't take much room. Used to carry a small led, but I always have my AAA Fenix led in my front left pocket, so that was sorta redundant.

This is without a doubt a very verstile blade. Don't know how any one could have a complete knife collection without this knife or a BK14. I've carried more stuff with this blade, but this is where I am at now.

Thank you Ethan for allowing my life to exist with this blade.

Thanks for looking,
Ross,

That's a cool set-up.
Here's how I'm carrying my Remora these days.

That's slick, I don't even notice it, and if I did I sure won't try anything to make a scene with that thing around.

Serious note: I'm of the mind that you ought to have a break-away lanyard on any type of neck knife in the woods or on the water. I use a couple of solutions...

One is to gut paracord, and feed a break-away chain through it.

The other is to buy and install break-away clasps that work well with paracord.
I think I got this style from a nursing-supply seller on the 'bay. Nurses use them for ID badges.
Think about it. When dealing with frantic patients, nurses don't want to have to add strangulation to their immediate worries.

Anything that goes on one of my kids' necks has one of these break-away fasteners on it.
Why aren't you seeing any pictures of neck rigs with Beckers? Honestly, I tend to pocket carry both my 11 and my 14.
However, one day... I will make a little neck rig for that Camillus proto that looks like an upsized Remora.

Great idea for a thread, looking forward to peoples posts. Still not quite sold on neck carry; its uncomfortable on my neck and the thing swinging around can be a real pain. The upside is that for tip-up, its a damn convenient place to be able to reach for and grab a knife.

BRL,I have some of the same issues as you, as some of the "neck" knives I own really work better as belt knives or pocket knives for me.
However, I just re-found that little CRKT shown above, and I'm using it again. It's light, convenient, and hardly noticeable.
It's discontinued (I think), but I bet they pop up on the 'bay from time to time.

That said, this thread idea is a good one, and I'm also looking forward to people's rigs.

Guyon, Love the idea of putting the beaded chain into the paracord. Never seen that before, I will implement that into mine. Really slick. Yeah once I started carrying mine in the cross draw set up it is for sure my most carried way now. Just cover it up with a t-shirt or hooded sweat shirt.

Know what you mean about the weight of it on the neck. thums up on the cross draw style. When out playing in the woods or camping, neck carry is super handy outside of the shirt. Can't carry outside of the shirt when the "sheeple" are around.

My advice? Leave one strand of the innards in the paracord and leave it long.
Tie it around a ball end of the chain (not the clasp), and use that strand to pull the chain through.
Otherwise, you'll end up cursing a lot. :D

You can also get the same traction with a needle threaded with some stout thread. It slides through the gutted paracord pretty easily.

The break away lanyard is a damn good idea. I hadn't thought about it, but if anybody could get strangled under a kayak, it would be me. Good thread. You learn something every day.

I didn't know they had a peck version of that have to do some searching now. I've always had one of their kiss or hug folders on me for the last 10 or 12 years.

I've got one of those too. Makes a good money clip.

As much as I like my BK11, I'm afraid I must complain. It is clearly useless for protection against wild animals. >:-(

Great tip, glad I saw that. Probably saved me the cussing. Great thread.

I don't carry my Necker around my neck; a little to big for me to EDC like that. So this is how I carry my Necker.

This is how I dangle my Remora though. This is the Becker I use the most; obvious reasons I'm sure :D
