I've been eyeing this little fella for a looooooooong time and've been reading reviews, specs, etc. and I have a few questions if you all will humor me. The first review I read was when it first came out and the review was in Blade magazine. Those guys loved it. Every other review has praised this little guy highly, but I just would like to know a couple of things before purchasing. First, how wide is the blade? I see a lot about thickness and length but no width measurments. Also, what about OAL? Next, what would be your personal view as far as crossover between a utility/SD knife? When I get it, I'll be carrying it 24/7 and want to know if I should include another blade to aid in SD. Personally I don't see why it wouldn't be able to keep up in a SD situation. It cuts, it has a point don't need much more than that as far as my training goes. For instance, the KA-BAR is a fighting knife, but that thing will do N E Thing! Also, I hear constantly about how the handle would be uncomfortable during long cutting chores; anyone with long fingered, slim hands have any experience with it? I don't see that it would, and like everyone esle says, wrap it in 550 cord if it gets to be a problem. Lastly, how on earth would one use that little cut-out in the back for breaking wire? Thanks in advance and I hope you all have fun with this one. :D

My tape measure is in my truck so I can't help with the specs you need. As for the comfort level with the handle, I got chubby short fingers and it bugs the hell out of my hand if I use it for extended periods. I have wrapped mine with paracord but it didn't help at all with the comfort. I don't wear mine anymore, after a couple weeks I just didn't use it enough to justify it. As for using it as a self defence weapon, unless you wear it outside of your shirt I see it as useless.

Grand Prairie Knives has these in stock for $35 plus shipping and taxes.

I have large hands and feel the handle is way too small for the blade, but you may disagree.

They are well made, and may be about 1/8 inch in thickness, but that is a guess.

Great blade, terrible handle. Unless you have tiny, baby hands, it will be too short, and if you try to palm it, the bottle opener/wire breaker will cut into your palm. If it had a handle like the Camillus Arclite, it would be a winner.

I take mine when I go fishing, wear it around my neck, very handy. I was going to wrap the handle but its easy to keep clean the way it is.

I believe blade thickness is closer to .150, could be wrong.

I don`t think it was ever intended that this be an extended use knife. For me its convenient and tough,

like someone else said, wearing it around your neck looks good on paper,

Ever try to reach for a knife when someone is slinging you around by a lanyard that is wrapped around your neck.

Just a little different perspective

My comments are basically the same as the others: nice knife, but the the handle is just too small. One of these days I'm going to make a wooden handle for it.

Could you wrap the handle yourself? Paracord or something? Er...well, come to think of it, you could just follow the previous advice and buy a Camillus Arclite for the same price...

The BK necker handle is tiny, and it doesn't fit my hand at all. Quality is good, but it doesn't work for me.

I just bought one, got it today. My first impressions of it are mixed. I like the steel, and it sure is sharp. The blade shape and length are good. The handle leaves alot to be desired, it is not very comfortable. As Esav mentioned, the cut-out in the back of the handle makes palming it uncomfortable. I've been wearing it under my shirt all day, and I do not notice it, and it hides pretty well with the shirt I have on. The sheath is massively tight! I hope it loosens up, or it feels like I'm about to be decapitated trying to unsheath it while wearing it around my neck. I do have a mini tec-lock at home that should work on the sheath.
I bought it for a specific use... I am traveling soon, and wanted a small fixed blade to take with that I could secure in my luggage with a cable lock. I will put the cable lock through one of the holes in the handle and secure it to the frame of my luggage so those TSA bastards won't five finger discount me.
I'm not so sure I would want to use it in a self-defense situation, due to the handle ergos.

That is one great idea! My guess is that you've had things five fingered in the past by TSA?

I have always been tempted by this blade but so far have resisted the temptation!
A friend of mine had one and then sold it cos the handle was so uncomfortable.

some of the most popular neck knives seem to be from my research (in no particular order)

Emerson La griffe
Simonich Bitteroot
Shivworks lil loco
Livesay Woo (or Lp etc)
Hideaway Knife by Front Sight
Nemesis Hellion

Cheaper but still good

Camillus Arclite
CRKT Neck Peck
CS Para edge etc..
Spyderco Spot
Benchmade Tether

Do check out some of these (depending on your taste and budget) I think nearly all of these will perform better or as well as the Becker

I agree with the others, the handle is to uncomfortable for extended use, however, the materials and blade design make it the perfect back-up survival blade.

I saw in another forum where someone made hollowed handle slabs for the knife where they stored matches, etc.

Naw, I'm just a suspicious paranoid cynical bastard. Why give them the chance?
