I few months ago I had the privilege of reviewing the KA-BAR Becker Necker for SWAT Magazine. The knife I used for the article was a prototype I inherited from Jeff Randall while we were in Peru doing a Jungle Survival Trip. After using the prototype in Peru, I brought it back for my own review. Well not long after that, KA-BAR released the production version. Paul Tsujimoto, over at KA-BAR , was a sheer pleasure to deal with and is a real outdoorsman, according to Ethan. A few days before I left to Australia a package of Becker’s arrived. Here are some photos from my time with the Becker Necker in Australia, and stateside over the past few months. As we all know publications have a limited amount of space for pictures. I have been meaning to post these sooner but haven't found the time. Thanks again Paul, and Ethan. Where the heck has Ethan been lately? We need to catch up!

I admit that sometimes I walk that fine line between knife use and plain stupidity. Point first batoning using the only thing available at the time, a rock! Don't try this at home people, I am not a professional!

Is that the Cro-van version? What's the stock thickness? Pardon my ignorance and the drool... :)

Great review and pics! A small knife that works much bigger than it is. I love mine, too. I equipped the sheath with Ka-Bar's TDI belt clip and it is also great. Fastens to MOLLE straps on my packs and bags real nice.

Thanks guys.

rksoon- In the second, "in hand shot," you can see how the small handle fits nicely in the palm of the hand. It is kind of "cradled" in the palm. I know lots of people have their issues with knife handles being too short but if it is comfortable and easy to handle in a number of positions, it's good in my book!

Yes, it looks like it would fit right with a variety of hand sizes.

Yes you are right.
It is a small handled knife and to be perfectly honest, I like handle designs that are more simple and straight. That being said, the name of the game is design! This handle is designed to be comfortable with a simple cord, or shoelace wrap. When I hear people complain about handles being too small I always ask them, "but is it comfortable?"

Any comparison thoughts between this and the Izula?

After using them both extensively and covering them in TK and SWAT, I think they are both the best neck knives in the business by two of the best manufacturers in the business, KA-BAR, and Rowen. As for the designers behind them, no question about it, definitely the best in the business, Mike, Jeff, and Ethan!

Choosing between them would be like asking a mother to pick which kid is her favorite.
