Ordered a few knives from one of our favorite online dealers. One of them was a Becker Necker in the laminated steel. First impression I thought it looked a bit to beefy for me. But after doing some cutting with it in hand I am impressed. It is very sharp out of the box. Nice polished edge and cuts well. Handle feels good and much better than I thought based on the appearance. My intention is to put some slabs on like folks are doing with the Spyderco Mules. All I have laying around is some blue/black G-10 but I think a bright color would suite this knife. Maybe orange but I will look for a bright green or golden color G-10. The sheath works but nothing to rave about. Came with a good length of paracord also. Anyone else have one and has anyone put handle slabs on one of the neckers? - tnx

in 6 weeks KaBar will be selling slabs :) HOPEFULLY they're going to do some black and silver carbon fiber JUST for the san mai model.

all neckers are good things :)

Bladite - Nice collection. If they offer slabs I would go with that for sure. It is neat to see the clip point model. I had never seen the Kabar small version on the left in your pic before- nice.

left to right:
BK-13 "Remora"; clip-point prototype; BK-11 Camillus, BK-11 KaBar, BK-11 SanMai KaBar

the BK-13 is often included with the BK-07, BK-77 (limited edition < 140 left iirc), and BK-09; made in china for the first run - a successful experiment, future models will be make in the USA from what i hear.

soon it'll be for sale by itself! they totally sold out at Blade 2009 at $5 each (show price)... awesome!

You have to love that sandwich steel man! There is nothing like opening a fine bottle of ale , I'm talking a GOOD bottle, with a laminated steel. The other cool part is you and see it on the spine.

Not unless the company rises from the ashes. I believe Bladite mispoke and meant to say KA-BAR.

Wish they'd make the Becker Necker without those cut-outs (just three holes for pins would suffice, so you could attach your own handle) and that silly bottle opener.

it substantially reduces the weight, which is useful when you are carrying it around your neck.

as well, i bet the little cut out bits get recycled and turned into more knives?

and it gives us far more options for handles, lanyards, wraps, etc.
