Not really an in depth review, but I wore my becker necker all weekend at a fishing camp. I like a necker for when I'm wearing a tshirt and swim trunks.

The becker necker is a fairly substantial necker, the weight was not really a problem as far as the weight around the neck. But it was heavy enough that teh kydex sheath was abrasive on the skin in the quite hot weather. My cold steel bird and trout is much lighter and probably would have done perfectly for the things I ended up using the becker for, but the becker seems to be more all around useful.

The black lanyard that it comes with puts the knife at a nice level for comfort and access, but it was a little noticeable. I might change to a bead cord or a lighter weight paracord.

The knife didn't cut much more than a few bags, some plastic packages and some fishing line, but it did so as easily as you'd hope. The handle, about which there have been many complaints was fine for this light cutting.

I did get some stares when the guys forgot their cigar cutters and asked if anybody had a knife. I reached up under my shirt, and "click" pulled out the becker. They appreciated how sharp it was, even if they now think I'm some kind of a knife knut, which I am. ;)

Sorry I probably should have put this in knife reviews and testing. I don't know who to move it. Thanks.

I had considered a becker necker but was concerned about its weight. Appreciate your review.

By the way - love Vermont's gun laws - wish I could move there and escape the "may issue" tyranny of Maryland.

I have the Becker Necker also, and have become quite fond of it. It is very sturdy for it's size and it has taken a fair abount of punishment from me. I have used it in the kitchen on chicken and vegies, cut a pan of brownies at my daughters school when someone (okay me) forgot to slice them before hand, and batoned through a fair amount of wood with it. This last chore rubbed off some of the black coating on the blade, but that is the only defect that I have observed. Takes a great edge from my spyderco sharpener. It will easily take the hair off of my arm.
It's also my son's favorite knife to borrow when he is out in the yard with me working on projets. He is 6 with small hands, and it fits him great. I did wrap the handle in 550, that made it much more comfortable.

I was thinking of wrapping, but I've never wrapped a handle. Is the Becker easy to wrap? Did you use anything in particular that you thought was well suited for it?

Thanks.

Mine actually came wrappen in black 550 paracord. If it hadn't it looks like it would be easy to do. It was started near the blade (I can't even see that end of the cord) and then finished up close to the bottle opener.
Over on knifeforums, I once saw a guy who removed all the blacking, and added a bone (I think) handle. I'll see if I can find the link.
I would consider doing something like that if I can find another inexpensive one on ebay.
