With the recent release of the Becker Necker through Ka-Bar again, I was hoping we could dedicate a thread that people could come back to and show how those that choose to wrap the handle do it. I've done a search and can't really find any posts on how it has been done in the past. I've never wrapped one and would like to see some examples if possible before I try.

Feel free to post any Becker cord wraps other than Neckers too if'n ya want!

This is an old Becker Necker, but I'm sure the technique is still applicable:

The wrap is really straightforward. I started by threading a length of paracord through the top hole, running it down the length of the handle, and then threading it back through the bottom hole, leaving a few inches protruding (to tie the lanyard). The remaining paracord was then wrapped tightly around the handle, from top to bottom - alternating placement above or below the vertical length of cord with each pass. This cord is then tied off at the bottom, forming a short lanyard.

That's about it. I used to use a skeletonized wrap, but found this to be more comfortable.

Looking forward to seeing some more advanced wrapping techniques!

All the best,

- Mike

PS my Becker Necker remains very close to the top of my list of all-time favourite knife purchases. Great little blade!

Got my new becker 7 last week. Took the little BK-13 freebe and wraped the handle in gutted 550 cord. I rolled about 10" of aluminum foil around the knife blade and put it in my daily carry IFAK/ISK. Threw out my razor blade.

That looks really sweet! Can you tell me where you purchased the small cord? Really nice, and more functional then the way I have mine wrapped.

Thanks

It just normal para cord with the guts taken out. After I wrapped it I felt it was too thick so I just pulled the insides out.

I'm toying with the idea of wrapping my BK11 (when it arrives) with braided fishing line. I'll use mine as both a EDC, and an outdoor survival/bushcraft knife. I could get a lot more fishing line on a handle for the same bulk as 550 cord. The line could then be used for lashing things together, building snares, etc. The only draw back would be the time required to do all the wrapping if I did an "in and out" wrap.

He are a few in fun, 80's ski jacket colors. The yellow one just has one extra twist in the middle vs. the orange one.

If you want to see an other Becker necker cord-wrapped (not seen previously), check my review:
http://www.coltelleriacollini.it/community4/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7315

(the review is in italian & it is about the old model by Camillus, but there are many photos)

If you want to cord-wrap your BK11 like mine, here is the tutorial:
http://www.coltelleriacollini.it/community4/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7689

(again in italian, but the photos are international :p , if you are curious the knife in the tutorial is a Cold Steel GI customized by me)
I use a layer of "bicicle-rubber" under the paracord to protect the knife in case the cord gets wet.

P.S.:
I really like that the BK11 has 2 holes at the end, so if you use one to fix the paracord you still have one free to use with a lanyard.
