I, too, am looking at buying the Becker Necker for a safety neck knife while kayaking. Is the steel of a recommendable quality? I realize in a wet environment rust could be a problem, but most of my knives are hi carbon steel anyway and I use preventative measures.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I just hate buying a new knife and then find it's made of poor quality steel!!

Your speedy reply has solidified my decision to go ahead with the BK-11! When I was in the Marine Corps, '68-'71, my "k-bar" was made by Camillus and I have always enjoyed that knife. Still have it and it'll still scare the hair right off your arm. I am glad their quality has remained consistent.
Can't wait to get my necker!!
thanks again,
