YUP.I LOVE IT!! I got a cqb1 a couple weeks ago.it was my first camillus knife. now I got the necker and love it too.I carry then both. the necker on the neck and cqb IWB .I think I'll get a cqb junior next.I got my girlfriend a cold steel safe maker push dagger with a 3 1/2 inch blade for self defense. any thoughts?

With the Camillus problems looking grim, I finally got the gumption to get a Becker Necker. I've wanted one for a while, but I just never got around to it, as they say.

It's a great little knife and after a bit of reprofiling of the edge, it is nicely sharp.

But ... the sheath is a little too tight. If I pull hard enough to get it out, I almost strangle myself ... from the back side!

Is this normal?

it seems some are very tight while others are somewhat loose{mine was VERY loose} I dipped mine in boiling water and squeezed the opening down to tighten it up. I would think you could do the same to loosen it. when you get the time do a search under necker and you'll find a lot of tips/tricks and some pretty neat handle mods. later, ahgar

The safe makers are great defense weapons but i would have gave her a compact 9mm or .45 acp to go along with the blade. Just dont piss her off afterwards.

You guys are costing me a lot of money  :o :D :D :D
First it was the BK-7 & now today I just ordered the Necker.

If I like it as well as the BK-7 I suppose I will have to get the Crewman next.

BTW, what is the difference between the BK-10 & the BK-2?

This is getting expensive.

The Camillus web site lists the Campanion as having a 5-1/4" blade & OAL of 10-5/8". It lists the Crewman as having a 5-1/2" blade, but I don't see the OAL. Do you know what it is? I think I like the sheath on the Crewman better, I am not a huge fan of Kydex sheaths. Both knives have the same steel and are .188" thick.

Do you have a preference for one over the other? Why? I am trying to decide which I will get next.

Thanks,
Dale

the best thing for a female self defense weapon (talking edged weapons) is a sharpened needle file (as in the hobby type ones). They are brittle and will break off, hence after the first hit they cannot be turned on your girlfriend. However, I think a taser is the best thing, but unfortunately you cannot get them in Australia.

Back on topic, I agree on the becker neckers, they are first class.

Yeah, the Necker is great. I've had mine for a couple of years now.

And with things looking as they are at Camillus, I just had to get a BK-9.

It arrived last week. Now that's a knife for your girlfriend to carry around for self defense! :D

The German online shop Wolfster lists these sizes for the BK-2 Companion
and BK-10 Crewman. According to these sizes there seem to be differences
in blade thickness, too.

BK-10 Crewman
http://www.wolfster.de/index.php?disp=shop&show=7/0/BK10
Overall Length: 27.8 cm 10.95 in
Blade Length: 14.0 cm 5.5 in
Blade Thickness: 4.62 mm 0.18 in

BK-2 Campanion
http://www.wolfster.de/index.php?disp=shop&show=7/0/BK2
Overall Length: 26.9 cm 10.6 in
Blade Length: 13.3 cm 5.25 in
Blade Thickness: 5.5 mm 0.22 in

Edited: Campanion
