Which of these would you choose ? I would like to purchase one or the other but I would like some opinions of wich one you would choose and why. The knife will be used to sharpen pencils, open packages , slice off pieces of salami, maybe sharpen marshmallow sticks and on ocassion maybe cut off a branch or two so I can make my way to a favorite fishing spot. You know, the usual stuff. Thanks.

And hello to GG, who I am sure will read this thread and recommend the bk11:D

Hello curious steel! Welcome to BFC-Glad to see you made it over to this neighborhood.

Have I become that transparent of late? Works for me. The BK-11 it is! Now go in peace (and wear a Becker necker around your neck) :p :D geegee

Benchmade. It sounds like you NEED a Nimravus in 154CM, plain edge dude. I have a personal fondness for BK&T, but don't own any (long story). Maybe a 710 in 154CM, plain edge would do the job and be a little more 'sheeple' friendly too, if that is one of your concerns. :)

Mini Griptilian. Very sheeple friendly, takes a hair poppin edge, and is unobtrusive in the pocket. And, if you get the purple one like me, nobody will be able to borrow it without having to give it back.

Curious Steel,

I assume you are after fixed blades only? In that case I'd get a Benchmade Outbounder for a "do everything" knife.
It's not easily seen in pics, but it's an extremely well handling little knife, takes a wicked edge and is very well made!
It won't take as much abuse as a Becker though, so it's all about the application!
