I am trying do decide between the Becker Patrol pack that our very own RYP says is the best pack out there and the ESEE Junglas pack for my next purchase. Does anyone have any side by side pics of the two to help me out?

Thread bump.

P.S. Does eagle even make the Becker Pack with the pocket on the outside anymore? All I seem to be able to find is a rather box style looking MOLLE pack that is named the Becker Patrol Pack. If they're not making it I guess my dilemma is solved for now.

If you're dead set on one of those two, ignore this post.

I own 2 packs from these guys and they are very, very good. (and about $200 cheaper than the Becker) I have the Tabago and the Level III. The Tabago will fit just about anything in it, it's large.

where are they made?

i'm disturbed that some of their packs look like exact clones of other makers - non licensed?

+ 1 on the voodoo tactical packs..i also own the level III and you cant beat it..especially since the maxpedition is almost twice the price. ( at least where i saw them for sale)

I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure that Voodoo Tac is another subsidiary name for UTG. I had a LVL III from UTG, and it didn't take to the rough stuff well, for EDC, sure.

CTD offers alot of Voodoo Tac stuff, and if I remember the bags were between $60-$80 depending on what you wanted.

Made in China is on the bag somewhere. Maxped, Made In Vietnam, Eagle Industries, Made in the USA. It hard to find American made products that don't cost MORE than the overseas makers.

I try to spend my money in the US when I can, and when I can't, I get Hecho en Mexico, or something. Its all in what you want, and what you can afford. I ride a Maxped Condor II right now, Made in Vietnam. It suits the purposes I have intended. I want and EI Becker Patrol Pack, maybe someday.

Sorry to further derail this thread, but I too have a Vodoo Tactical Level III Assault Pack. You get what you pay for. It is a Chinese copy. The buckles and fast-techs are flimsy (thin and made of very soft plastic). It is double stitched, but with crappy thread. The nylon seems heavy duty at first, if you look inside you see that is because it is backed by vinyl. The zippers are big and appear sturdy, but also seem very soft and I'm skeptical of them. The shoulder straps are very wide and not very comfortable. But the way they attach makes them easily replaced with something else. For $50, it isn't bad. There just isn't any free lunch.

Thanks - I have been jonesing for a Junglas Laserna for a while - my mind has not been changed.

I've put my "Tabago" through just about everything and it's still holding up without a single issue. Not one part has failed after 4 years of ownership and being used just about every weekend outdoors.

I don't have one of those. Looks similar to a Camelback BFM. Glad to hear it's working out for you. :)

I guess something to consider is that mine is kind of "old" so they may be made differently now. (cheaper)

Just throwing other options out there.

Yeah - that's a pain - you can completely stand behind a piece of gear and it may have been bulletproof early in its lifecycle, but the company may be acquired or expanded or due to cost-cutting, the level of quality can quickly change...
