Becker Price Increases - Buy Now?

Has anyone else noticed prices going up on certain knives like the BK2 recently? I don't think the prices have gone up on the standard retailer websites (like who advertise here) but a popular online seller of all things has increased their pricing by $4 in the past week or so. On top of that the prices on a popular auction website have gone higher as well. Are the prices really rising or what gives? Should I buy more Becker knives now or am I just trying to justify a new purchase? :D

My first two Becker's haven't even been delivered and already I am looking for excuses to buy more after seeing a few in person this week.

I really do wonder about the prices though.

Kabar pricing is going up 4% this year. Cost of doin' business, unfortunately. Some companies have raised their prices by as much as 20% across the board.

4% increase translates to $1-2 per knife.

Feel free to buy now, or wait until later when you can get laser etching and textured coating. The choice, as they say, is yours.

New catalog, new prices. I'd say it's unlikely that the prices will rise more for the next year or at least until the next catalog comes out.

But hey, get them now, you won't regret this. Especially the BK-2, everyone should have one.

I'll take the laser etching ... and I DO like the textured coating (in the pics, anyway).

My very first graduate degree was in laser physics. I'm nothing if not loyal.:)

I would wait until the new coatings and laser etching
They will look better and will just be a cooler knife!

Buy NOW, before it is too late.

This way, you will be more likely to buy another one in the future :)

I was worried about the price hike myself for a bit, but it was quite correctly pointed out to me that since these knives are crazy low-priced anyway that a 4% increase is ultra minor.

Honestly, I'd be more worried about dealers trying to bone the early adopters, especially savvy dealers that know about us, by cranking the prices on the new knives in the early days of release.

Don't get boned!

moosez45 is dead on the money. Compared to some of the price increases I've seen in other lines recently, a 4% increase isn't even worth paying attention to.

the price goes up this same time, every year, year after year...

it's just normal :)

The prices on Beckers from that "popular online seller" seem to go up and down like the stock market all the time.

Honestly the knives are such a value for the quality you get at the price point they are now. Going up 10% would not make me hesitate to buy another. One of the best knives for the money hands down.
