Becker Fans,

Got a couple questions for you guys, so you can educate me......

Why did they stop making the BK10? That knife is insane looking and a beast!

Also what is the difference between the bk2 & bk10?

There's 2 different model's of the bk2 rite? So what the main difference between the 2? just the pommel?

Thanks guys! Still looking to getting a Becker. I Fav. Models are, BK2, BK10, Becker Necker.

Why? Who knows why? Phil Gibbs might actually know why. Ethan may know why. I don't know why.

Also what is the difference between the bk2 & bk10?

Blade design (drop point vs. clip point), thickness, and blade length are all different.

Also, the tang is skeletonized on the Gen 2 Campanion.

Germany in da' house! Check my interjections in red above.
You can learn a ton about Becker knives and history by reading the Becker Blade Database (Sticky thread).

Bladite has worked hard over a number of years collecting, and now archiving, Becker blade information.

Guyon,

Thanks man, So which BK2 is better. 1st Gen or 2nd Gen? which one has the pommel and which is skeletonized? What do you think is a good BK to start with?

The 2 is a nice one to start with, though that "starter knife" really depends on your needs.
If you want something that is a great utility blade, the 2 is your ticket, even though it still feels sizable in hand.
If you want more of an all-around blade, with a bit more capacity for chopping and batoning, you might want to look at the 5 or the 7.
If it's a dedicated chopper you want, then the 9 is your go-to Becker.
And don't forget the EsKabar or the Necker if you need something a little more EDC.

The Gen 2 BK2 is the one with both the extended pommel and the skeletonized tang.
As for better, I can't make a direct, experiential comparison. Maybe someone else will chime in.
I certainly like the Gen 2 version a lot so far , but I don't have one of Ka-Bar's Gen 1 Campanions.
I think that the skeletonized tang (as far as balance) and the extended pommel (as far as function) are good additions though.

the simple reason on why the BK10 stopped being made is simple: Camillus made it, and when they went under ALL Beckers stopped being made.

Now that Ethan Becker has aligned with KaBar, and while they are bringing more of his previous line back, in some cases quite quickly, in other cases TOO SLOWLY (machax! come to me! cough), well, it hasn't happened yet...

so, out of the line up, we have: 1 (?), 2, 3, 4 (soon), 5, 6 (soon), 7, 8 (never), 9, 10 (nope), 11, 12, 13, 14

not bad :) people want what they want...

the 9 kicks ass - has the thumb ramp the military seems to require these days... the 7 imho is a cut down version of the 9 for size purposes and other constraints. the 10 is a utility grade with a ramp. thinner than even the thin Camillus era BK2 (which is thinner than both the pre-Camillus and the now the KaBar models - studly full thickness)...

and of course, new models are coming :)

so, that's why they stopped. very few models have not been re-started. KaBar probably has plans. you'll see.

W000000T, another german in the Becker forums? Schöne Grüße aus Berlin!

I'd also love to have a BK10, it's an awesome knife. The 2 is too short, the 7 is too long, 10 would be perfect.
