Becker screw/thread size

I picked up some 8-32 brass screws from the hardware store to dress up my BK9 a little, but much to my surprise they won't thread through the tang. I can only assume that I got the wrong size.

So does anyone happen to know what screw size and thread rate I need to be looking for when it comes to the full sized Beckers?

Full-sizers use #10's - 8's should be quite loose:

I used 10-24 X 3/4" brass screws on my BK9.

I went back to the hardware store to try the 10-24 screws, but the pan heads on the ones available are too big to go into the recesses on the scales. So either I have to file down the circumference of the heads, or file out the recesses to make them fit.

#10-24x5/8" stainless steel is the size I used on my Bk10. They worked perfectly.

He's talking about the size of the head it sounds like, not the threaded part. Yeah you'll just have to thin out the outside diameter of the head.
