Looks like there might be a small problem with the Glass Filled Nylon

Man, don't do that, I'm covered up as it is.:D

Flexxx, good lookin' out. Nothing wrong with rehashing it a little, especially when there are plenty of ewetubers out there making new vids all the time.

It was designed that way. Some of us are sharpen-a-holics. We need an excuse to bust out the diamond hones. The idea is, if you dont know how to sharpen your knife, maybe you shouldn't have one!

Hair falls out, boobs and butts sag, knives dull. It's just how the world works.

actually, it's a self sharpening system, returning knives to 220 grit. regardless of how dull or sharp they were to start ;)

flex, don't mind me, stressful week.

Bladite, do keep us posted on solutions if you hear anything from Kabar. I should think this will be an easy fix for the factory.

well, it's the glass in the sheaths. they are super strong, but if they rub the blade, you might as well be rubbing on rock. they've been trying to figure out better sheaths, than what camillus offered, in particular, sheaths that are modular, and won't shatter in the cold, and other issues. i think they are on the right track.

if one don't like it, mod your sheath, or get another one. it's hard to argue the value of a knife that good, with an inexpensive sheath - not everyone is having this issue. could be the way some people draw it as well. go kydex. go leather. go something.

just remember, there are knives that cost over 10x as much, that don't come with ANY sheath, and THOSE sheaths tend to cost more than any Becker... so bargain time.

This issue is not limited to Ka-Bar. It's a FRN issue.
As some of you know, I've been on a hunt for a Spyderco Aqua Salt Yellow PE.
I have one on order in Canada, but I was just looking around some more this morning because Canada is embroiled in a postal strike.
I ran across this post on the Spyderco Aqua Salt on the Spyderco home forum.

I have the PE model, and I like it well enough... except for the sheath problem already mentioned. The sheath is FRN, and it dulls the knife edge from contact. If you're getting one for the tackle box, you could get a small pocket stone to with it. I've seen Spyderco gray stones for like $6 at Cutlery Shoppe, and that's all you would really need.

As for the knife itself... edge retention is okay... for me it's hard to tell because I use mine for stuff that will dull any edge, like gardening. I used one to help cut up some venison, and it was alright, but the cutting board was glass, so again, any knife will be affected. The handle, however, rocked. Even covered with blood and slime, my grip was secure.

Honestly, it's a good knife. I would like to see Spyderco offer a sprint run of the blade with VG-10 and perhaps FFG. I would also like to see Spyderco quit making FRN sheaths, because the Aqua Salt isn't the only knife affected by this. Other Spydercos, and other brands, have the same issue.

I wonder if a strip of foam, or epoxy, or silicone caulk smeared down the inside of the sheath could prevent the edge contacting the FRN.

I, honestly, don't have any problems with this. My grandpa taught me years ago not to drag the edge along the mouth of the sheath as it could damage leather sheaths, and I've been sheathing knives carefully ever since.

I might drill the eylets out of mine, file out a groove on each half of the sheath and then re-eyelet it together. But I'm thinking it'll be easier to make a new Kydex sheath from scratch.

I've really never had a problem with it causing my blade to go dull, when I remove my knives from there shealths I drag the spine of the blade against the sheath not the edge...
