I'm looking for a knife for my upcoming deployment. My choices where narrowed down to SOG seal pup, Esee 4, Becker 17, and the Gerber LMF. Of all the four I mentioned I'm leaning more to the Becker 17, however my main concern is, if it's capable of being attached to a molle vest or pack. Is this doable? If you have other suggestion for deployment knife I would appreciate it.

Yes, the stock sheath has molle webbing. Also, here is a nice review of the 17: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1028026-Six-Month-Review-Becker-BK-17

Here's the reverse of the sheath:

I've got the 16 and the tweener sheaths are great. They're much better than anything Becker made a couple of years back. I think that's true of all of the Becker sheaths.

Only one of that I don't have is the LMF. My recommendation is the 17. While Esee's heat treat is AMAZING, comparatively the 4 FEELS much heavier. The 17 sheath does come with a Molle compatible backing and it's a great sheath/knife.

My brother visited Ethan's for the last Spring Gathering, and one of the first things he said when he saw the new knives was that he really liked the sheath for attachment like you are describing and he has done 3 tours thus far.

I had a picture of a SOG Seal Pup next to a BK16 but I can't seem to find it. They were very comparably sized. There are several pics of a BK16/17 next to an ESEE 4 all over the place and they are quite close in size as well. I believe the LMF is slightly bigger overall, both in handle and blade, but I am not 100% sure as I don't own one. For what you are doing, I would suggest either the ESEE 4 or the BK17. (If you find pics comparing the BK16 you can use that as a reference as the 17 is the same overall dimensions, just with a clip cut out of the back of it.)

Good luck and thanks for your service!

Thanks for all the response. TheWarrior thanks for posting the backside of the sheath. I've never seen one that's why I ask, and I guess my google fu is weak. Like I said I'm leaning more on the BK17 because of it's size and weight.

For me personally, the choice would be between the esee 4 and the 17. I would take the 4 over the 17 if I HAD to choose. That being said, even if you only bring one on deployment, I'd suggest you just buy both to play with :D

It molles pretty well as far as I can tell. Mine is attched to the molle on the side of my water bottle carrier that gets tossed around a bit and I've had no issues with it. There are a couple of pics of it in this thread.

The BK17 works well attached to my molle backpack. I think its a great choice for you, the sheath is very secure and the molle works good. ESEE makes an excellent knife too. I would not recommend the sog or gerber.

All right I'm sold with the BK17. Garnetandblack, i wish I can afford both but not right now, ,maybe when I get back :) Now, i'm off to find a BK17, any one knows a brick and mortar store that sells one in Socal?
