i'm organizing a group camp out centered around saturday, 03/31/12 in harriman state park (the spots i'm thinking of will be no more than an hour away from nyc). some folks might stay overnight into sunday. i'm planning on doing my typical 2-nighter so i'll probably be there fri to sun for anyone that wants to meet up early. for the day hike-only folks, plan on attending saturday. this is not a car camping event...expect the hike to the spot to be 3-5 mi of varied terrain...everyone is welcome to join! although with the terrain/distance, i'd say if your kid isn't old enough to carry his/her own overnight gear (it's possible that temps might drop close to freezing still) then they're too young to hike it even just for the day (i'm err'ng on being safe rather than the parents having a bad day, sorry!). anyway, respond here or pm me and i'll add you to the list and we can discuss the details as the date gets closer.

my only requirement is that you're comfortable enough to follow the trail and basic map and compass nav. i will meet up with the group from the parking lot and lead the way to the spot saturday morning (we'll hash out the details as a group later) but you're on your own after that if you're not going home at the same time as me, just to be clear. i will not be held responsible for anyone, [insert standard lawyer disclaimer crap here].

Kudos for setting this up, kabayan. This sounds like a ton of fun. Wish I didn't live on the other side of the country.

bring the wifey! and try and convince gonadz to go. the last time i hiked with him was last year and i think he got scared since i get the crazy eyes every time i'm holding a machete :D

I will probably show up for the day on Saturday, but I just returned from a few nights up in MA (Got to head north for the snow), and I don't want to leave the wife and kids alone again in that short time frame. Thanks for the invite.

bummer. i'm going to try these group camp outs on a regular basis so i'll give you a head's up if you'd like...so far there's 4 busse folks and 3 esee folks coming and no beckerhead yet aside from myself...this might be the first time i'll see more busse knives being used than becker and esee combined :eek:
 
Not sure about the wife but she kinda said OK.. Hopefully find a sitter and she can come too.. Getting the kids taken care of for the weekend is going to be the challenge. If I can make it I will bring my Busses and Beckers.. What about my AR7? Which Hogs are going to be there? Thanks for the updates!

awesome! can you legally carry your ar7 to harriman state park? if you can then feel free to. i live in the people's republik of new jerseystan so just taking my guns out of the safe i'm already nervous of possibly violating stupid laws :eek::( uyotg is most likely in for the overnighter and KnifeAWeek and our friend who doesn't post here is also coming but just for the day.
 
It would be cool to finally meet you and Gary. Prolly just leave the bangers behind for this one, but should have my BK4 by then..:D Maybe the gods will look favorably and bless with a deal on a CGFBM before then but I don't know benevolent gods like that ;). Anyone gonna bring a BK5 along? I would like to get my hands on one before I decide 5 or 15...
 
Sounds fun........be sure to be kind to th Hogs.......The ESSE guys can usually be counted on to pull their own weight......LOL......
