Cool lookin' Chihuahua, man. Did you get it at the pound or did you buy an AKC registered? Seems like a bath is in order, but, other than that, good lookin' dog. :D

I love to listen to those guys at night, seems summer is on its way.

That thing is a Great Dane & Jack Russell mix. My neighbor's dog got out and humped my other neighbor's dog. Funniest thing you've ever seen.

This is going to be one of the big years, I hear. Something about thirteen.
 
you can eat those right? cooked of course, probably in stew :) serve witt old bay seasoning...

We get tons of those too. I also don't mind the sound.
 
Suckers are hatching all in the back yard today.
I was trying to read up and see if they make good fish bait.
 
Cicadas used to freak me all the way out when I was a kid. I saw one wriggling out from between two concrete slabs in my yard once and I thought it was the devil coming to get me :D

they make a bunch of noise and are extremely irritating if you're camping and happen to be in the thick of them.. when I moved here 5 yrs ago I thought there was something wrong with the transformer on the power pole:D

the locals used to make fun of me big time as I was in culture shock having lived in socal my whole life,every bug is HUGE out here !! course now I'm a bonafied okie..
 
more smoke & mirrors thread - whatever knife this thread is about :o 'tweener pics were supposed to be available 3 weeks ago but still nothing...sure is a complete opposite of how esee operates where they don't tease around and tell it like it is even if it's delayed/canceled...just makes it harder and harder for me to chime in with positive recommendations for beckers when newbies ask for advice what knife to get in the general section, becker vs. esee vs. bark river threads, etc.

p.s. no offense intended, i just try to speak what's on my mind/honest (good or bad) among friends :o.

I'm just going to delete my knee-jerk reply, and have another go of it.
It served little purpose beyond a personal pissing match in which a moderator holds more cards.
Sometimes, I post like my old self, and then I have to step back and remember that I'm a moderator.

Here's my view of things.

I know that Ethan would prefer that knives come out more quickly. He's said so himself.
However, he works in collaboration with a company that produces a LOT of other knives, and timelines aren't always optimal for the Becker fan.

As for Tweener pics, well that's just unfortunate if folks were waiting with bated breath for them to be out weeks ago. Ethan has clearly been busy with his other pans in the fire.
He attended E2E and ESEE school, he prepared a camp site for the Becker gathering, he managed the Joy of Cooking empire. And when it comes to forum pics, Ethan is still learning.
In other words, a little patience is in order.

The same is true of the KaBar contests. We would love to have run them before Moose went to the ESEE wilderness class. That was the plan.
However, Moose wants the knives in hand before running the contests, and I don't blame him one bit.
KaBar is still filling up the box of knives. We don't know numbers or models yet, and until we do, the contests will have to wait.

If it's about scratching an itch, folks are going to have to learn to cope. That may be tough in an age of instant food, instant shopping, instant entertainment, etc., but so it is.
This place is about knives, but it's also about community and camaraderie. We want the forum to be active and vibrant and full of happy participants.
If people feel like they're being teased, I have no problem with them voicing those concerns. Let me assure you that such was never my intent. And I do not believe it is the intent of Ethan.
Mandates are another matter. Honestly, if a three-week delay on photos matters so much that one would retract recommendations, then maybe Becker isn't the best fit for a knife fan.

There's always going to be some advance hype, and Ethan has been very good about delivering good news once he knows firmly that something is going to happen.
Exact timelines, however, are not always a reality. We don't always get the production times or the delivery times that we want. Such is life.
