Beckerheads on Facebook?

Wasn't sure if this would be OK, but I asked first and got the thumbs up. Was having some Becker discussions on my Facebook today and lamenting the fact that I only have a few bushcraftian/Becker-types on there. I thought I would toss out the idea in here that if anyone also is on Facebook and wanted to add other Becker fans to their friends list, we could cross connect here.

I have friends on another forum that I can barely cross-connect their real names to their screen names, yet we discuss the same stuff both places. My suggestion is if you are interested in adding/being added on FB with others here, just post the you are interested and your name, or do it by PM. Its good to have some people talking about cool stuff other than reading silly inspirational pictures all the time, you know?

Chris Tanner in Columbus Ohio here!

Great idea for those with FB accounts.
As for me, I killed my Facebook account. BFC is a big enough time suck.
Plus, when it goes public, watch Zuckerberg sell everything you've ever put on there. :D

Never activated a facebook account. Greatest achievement of my life next to filling the world more awesome with my birth.

Seriously though, i just chat up a couple of guys less anonymously with my email. That's good enough for me.

Why not create a Beckerhead FB group and folks can come along and 'Like' or join it without having to 'Friend' a bunch of people you've never met (and which, for instance, my wife and I have an agreement not to do)?

That would probably work out pretty good. As long as someone is willing to run it.

Good idea. I'm having trouble looking people up anyway. Not sure how, but if noone else jumps at it, I will figure it out tommorrow night when I have time.

I personally have no problem friending people I don't know if I know where they are coming from. For instance, I have a bunch of friends I made by hanging out on Dave Canterburys FB page. You get to know them by reading them in the news feed. If I find someone doesn't click I just delete them, no muss, no fuss. What I DON'T do is friend people from stupid FB games.

I haven't gotten a beckerhead number yet, but I am still game!! Richard Serafin in Casper, Wyoming!!

It's easy to set up and run. In fact I would have done it already, but not being a Beckerhead yet (I'm working on it) I thought perhaps it might not be quite the right thing to do.

Facebook is great if you manage it correctly and don't go overboard with trying to get some ridiculous high number of friends. What I am most proud of is never jumping on the Twitter bandwagon. THAT I don't get. It's way better when your list is populated with people of the same ilk rather than a bunch of people you went to high school with.

Not trying to sell anyone on Facebook. But if you DO use it already, why not connect with people from here? You actually get to KNOW people that way, where as here the only thing I really know about anyone is someone has a hairy back, Moose teases people with knives, Nick makes Bomb-ass sheaths, Oregon Fal'er makes handles, and everyone like Becker.

I would propose just making it a Becker fan page and leaving the Beckerhead stuff here, since it is more of a "sanctioned" group..

You're a cool enough guy had I had it I'd likely join. But I already have a website where beckerheads can gather and talk beckers and nonsense. All the best in your endeavor.

From the group people could then decide to add friends and what not....and it would likely draw more people from outside in that could come here. It's networking. My idea was for adding more friends, and getting to know people of like mind. Some are wary of that, and the group would just be a good middle ground, and a bit of an outpost.

C tanner, I subscribed to yours but couldn't figure out how to friend you. Mike j O'Donnell MN

I had to change a setting. Anyone should be able to send me friend requests now. I had it set for "only friends or friends" can send requests.
