First off, full disclosure... it wasn't only Beckers that got used this past weekend at Lake Pleasant just outside of Phoenix AZ. The full list of stuff that got used includes a Wenger SAK, Leatherman Wave, Opinel No. 9, Cutco serrated kitchen knife of some kind, Becker BK9, Becker BK13, KA-BAR Dozier folder, and a Fletcher Pocket Kilo. Believe it or not, they all got used for various legitimate reasons and not just for good-times knifey :jerkit: !
Most of these pictures are just to provide some vicarious outdoors good feelings for those of you unfortunate to be living somewhere where it isn't shorts weather yet
I didn't get a chance to take a whole lot of knife photos, because we were camping with a pretty large group almost all (except me and my daughters!) not being what you could consider "knife people". In fact, three frickin' separate times while I was batoning wood for our fire, I had someone say something along the lines of "Bruce, really??!? Gary has a hatchet up at his camp!". Here's BRL, successfully prepping fire after fire, but yet people gotta comment. I guess the takeaway here is that criticizing a 6'4" guy with a shaved head and a nine-inch black bowie knife doesn't require the brass monkey balls that you might think.
Pics or GTFO!
Our group occupied almost this entire hillside, all the way down to the water.
My oldest got into the kayak as soon as she could, and pretty much never got out the whole time.
Finally got a chance to take my BK9 out for a spin, and I really really like it. I beefed up the handles with Camillus grivory, Flexxx's liners, and a bike inner tube and it's a chopping mosheen. Might even replace my Cutlass machete... MIGHT, I said.
1+1+1 = steak!
My oldest spotted a mouse and wanted to set some man-traps to see if we could catch it. I used the BK9 to dig the holes (shhh, don't tell Toooj).
My middle with her outdoors lanyard which includes an emergency whistle, an Inovo light, and the Dozier folder that Guyon gave me.
Oldest decided she needed to take over batoning duties.
OMG AIRSOFT MULISHA (oldest daughter plus some kid from a neighboring campsite in top photo, youngest daughter in bottom photo)!

I tipped one to averageiowaguy and godspeed, who were having similar good times due West of me.
Outdoors time with the family is my favorite outdoors time.
