So I woke up and decided I wasn't gonna be indoors today. Grabbed my youngest nephew, loaded up some toys and hit the road.

We ended up at my brother's new farm (he's technically my 1st cousin...but we ARE brothers except by blood), we were gonna do some concrete work, but it was raining off and on.....so we went fishing instead.

BECKERS

The 14 and Todd's Warnie are my EDC, the 17 and 9 come along whenever I leave asphalt.

BUDDIES

My youngest nephew, he's eerily like me, crazy as hell and always ready to roll.

He stole my camera

He also likes the 17....smart kid. The BK2 is his real passion though, he loves it, whenever he wants to use a knife and I point him at the knife-box he always comes out with a 2 LOL

More Knife Porn
did a little feather-sticking with the 17, hard seasoned oak I cut off a downed tree with my 9. I also used the Warnie, made tight lil corkscrew curls but the pics didnt come out right.

BRIDGES
We stopped along several spots of the Spring River on the way home, trout weren't biting but we had fun.

The old bridge was built around 1914 if I recall the plaque correctly.

More knife porn!

Found some paper bark along the river...used it as an example to my nephew to always be looking for fire tinder. It took a flame pretty well considering it was damp.

Looks like a hell of a good time. We made the Kampsville/Grafton/Alton run today, just for the hell of it.

Looks like a fine day indeed Thrill. Good company, good knives and good place to hang out.

Looks like a great way to spend the day.
The snake looks similar to a juvenile garter snake, but I don't know much about snakes.:p

Thanks for sharing.

I know enough about snakes to not grab one LOL, all the handling was done with the 9 and a stick. I strongly detest snakes.

ya Cbear...that's Austin AKA ''The Hammer''.

looks like a garter snake to me.
I'm still loving that tweaked 14.

Garter snake, If you were gonna grab one, those i'd be the ones to grab.

I figgered it was a grass or garden snake since it wasn't shovel-headed.

A few years back I was turkey hunting, sat down against a log. When I stood up a few hours later, I discovered a dead baby copperhead under me. I had sat down on it, my wallet smashed it against a rock. I was not pleased.

Yikes death by Ogre butt......not the most ideal way to go. Very nice photos thrill. That 17 looks great, I bet it would look even better with OD handles though. what finish do you have on your 17? Is it blued or a dark vinegar patina?

LOL...Ogre-Butted!

It's blued, it has faded somewhat but is holding up pretty well. I like how it's rubbing off along the bevels. I will apply another coat here before too long.

You guys have lots of water. All our streams and ponds are drying up.

Interesting grinding patterns on the 17. It almost looks like the grinding marks were intentional -- a factory scollop.

I'm pretty sure it's a garter snake, but I'm not sure about the false "eyes" on the head. I'll forward a picture to my grammar school buddy, the expert. When adults would asks us what we wanted to be when we grew up, he'd say "herpetologist"!!

great photos, and looks like a good time. That's a real nice area you have to explore, too.

That looks like a Garter Snake. Or a King Cobra. Can't be sure.
LOL! that made me laugh..that's pretty much my attitude towards snakes...''maybe a black snake? or it could be a puff adder.... let's just stay away from it''

we were bone dry last week...leaves falling off trees, grass crunchy...cricks and ponds drying up...we finally had some rain though, in fact it was raining yesterday, It rained pretty good Friday night and Saturday morning...it was sprinkling on us all day off and on.

I love the grind marks on the 17, I guess technically it's a flaw...but I think it looks cool. That's why I like stripping Beckers, you just never know what you will find underneath....

thanks, LOL he should know then!

We didn't get any of that rain. It is burnt up at the farm, driest I've ever seen it.

Your bluing seems to be holding up better than mine. My 17 lightened up pretty quickly.
