Up 4am finishing off some sheaths for people and completing a few other projects.

So I did finish the 11/14/Izula pouch.. But I don't like it. Nope not at all. The back has to be wider to accept the longer blades and it buggers up the way I normally sew them and attach the firesteel loop. Not real sure what to do about that yet.

Not a happy camper in the pouch department so I tossed that across the shop somewhere (No you can't have it) and finished up some other stuff. One was an order for a 'simple' BK2 belt sheath. Simple.....well ok I Suppooooooooose I can do that for you.

Ha not so simple, you can put an Esee-5 in there too. That's what you get for stepping on my creativity department.

Got tired of doing that stuff about noon so I loaded up the truck to go sight in some boomsticks.

about 20 min out of town and 5,000 elevation brings us to hundreds of miles of state forest, tons of fishing, hiking, biking etc up here.

My buddies wanted to go so they all piled in the truck too.

Then we have an unusual combo based off some of my Skydex designs that stowed away for some testing.

Got a second PPQ for the wife that needed to be sighted in. Insert a lot of kicking things and general irritation for forgetting I lost my skeletool earlier and didn't bring any other tools to adjust sights with. Improvised by taking apart some nail clippers we use for fishing line.

15ft and all over the place at first. So I sat down ate some grub and cooled off for a few and adjusted things.

15.jpg

Ok 25ft and that is much better. I don't get out to shoot near as much as I would like too and I don't make any claims about being super sniper squirrel.

15sighting.jpg

50ft , I shoot pretty decent at this range. Still need to practice more, the high ones are from jerking. I hate when I do that.

50.jpg

100ft Hey, they are still on paper.

100.jpg

Well that was 250 rounds worth of fun, Let's break out something else.

New scope to sight in. I love the 6.8, low recoil and knocks stuff over. Ammo is kind of high but ammo always is these days.

Lets see now, left is up right down... no wait I remember up, up, down, down, left ,right, left, right b,a,b,a start

Ran out of free space so I used the O in the 'score keeper' :D right where I wanted at 250yards, Just had to remember my mad nintendo skills. :D

That gets expensive to shoot really fast. Let's try something cheap.

WTH???

Ogres get clubs but a true gnome always carries a sling.

DSC_0064.jpg

Ha when's the last time you used one of these?

DSC_0066.jpg

Evil tree was my target for the day.

Untitled23.jpg

Fortunately for evil tree I haven't used a sling since I was a kid and if it wasn't for gravity I couldn't even hit the ground for about 60 or so rocks. Takes awhile to get the hang of it, about the 15th or so throw I managed to sail one into my drivers seat.....

DSC_0067.jpg

Which immediately convinced me I should maybe consider parking another 100yards away and run back to punish evil tree some more. Free is pretty fun once you get the hang of it, and you get a free tan because it is 90's and 100's here this week.

Go fetch truck, Load everything up and let evil tree know i'll be back. Then it's off to make some burgers and margaritas and finish putting together this gods cursed kayak trailer.

Happy Friday!

Wow, you sure do live in a beautiful area.

I see the leather business is treating you well. :D

looks like a fun day, beautiful area. I love your leatherwork, and that's a nice arsenal of weapons there too ;)

Looks like you had a good time. I like those double stitched sheath's alot..

I like that BK2 sheath, the skydex one. Nice look, simple.

Awesome 6.8, I haven't got to play with one of those yet.

I think I will stick to my club, that sling looks like something I would choke myself with.

Very nice, I take it you really like the PPQ seeing as how you got a second? I am considering getting one if I can find one for a good price around here. I just recently completed the whole CCW process for NY and its just a waiting game now. I would love to hear your feedback on the PPQ.

Looks like fun, Sky.:cool::thumbup:
Thanks for the pics of that beautiful country.
Al

Awesome time! Love that PPQ. Ergonomics mimmick the HK P30, which is to say... perfection. Also one of the best -factory- striker triggers I've ever seen. Backed up by S&W customer service... it's hard to do better.

I love the 6.8 round... but you're right.. it's too stupid expensive. For that reason alone, I stick with 5.56 and 7.62. She's purdy though.

Really like that BK4 kydex sheath. Did you do that one or is that one of azwelke's?? I could use one of those...

The 6.8 is one of my favorites. The government was talking YEARS ago about making it THE standard military round for the standard issue rifle, as well as the everything up to the heavy machine gun. It hits harder than a 7.62 if you can believe it and is as accurate as the 5.56. you can carry more of it than 7.62 in the same amount of space or the same amount of weight, and Ballistic wise its just better ..lol
Unfortunately there would have to be Soooooooo many weapons replaced or retrofitted, and there is soooo much "Standard Nato" ammo around that it never got off the ground.
I really would LOVE to see the cost of 6.8 ammo come down because I want to own one very badly ....

Also Nice sharp stuff Sky, Oh nice leather too, I mean its ok and stuff ...heh

Skydex, huh? Leather covered kydex?

Your 6.8 looks like tons 'o fun, but when the ammo runs around $1 a piece, it gets pricey. Awesome pics though ,and some beautiful country to boot. I'm officially jealous!

That looks like a fun time, Sky. I dig those shooters.

Tell us more about those Skydex rigs. I like the looks of them.

Well I have a bunch of kydex designs I am going to have done in limited runs, more on that to follow soon. The BK4 rig is one of Al's, top notch stuff, I also have one of his for my 16 that I keep in the truck.
Wife loves the ppq for pinking but needs something a bit smaller for ccw so I may look at a pps or one of the xdm or xds subs.

Double stitching takes a LOT of time. I hand stitch everything, when I have to double stitch stuff I start looking really hard at one of my sewing machines.

Skystorm, +1 for the PPS as well. It's one of my favorite CCW guns. Stick to 9mm though - it's a bit of a wrist breaker in .40.

Skystorm, I actually like the concept behind that pouch sheath a lot. Makes me wonder--have you thought about doing one like that, but making a wallet instead? I think it would be pretty darn cool to have a wallet with a knife sheath on it :D

Love the AR 6.8. Always thought that was a really cool round, and I love AR's.
