Beckers... I finally 'got it'

After months and months of reading posts celebrating the various Beckers, I bought one. Had a specific purpose in mind and my new BK 9 performs perfectly.

Don't laugh... It's my rabbit hunting knife. Got it for chopping my way into the deep stuff to retrieve a downed bunny, and hacking my way out of the thickets when I roam too deeply into them.

I use it, of course, as a Mini-machete, and as a person who has had to use a machete for it's intended purposes, this BK9 works great. I will also find many uses for it next year; it'll be great for building rough deer blinds, cutting a firing lane when bow or gun hunting, general cut & slash work. I've put a wrist thong onto the knife, of course, considering my use of it.

I've read of the sheaths being a very loose fit. I don't have that problem with mine. Very tight. So tight I just went ahead and removed the keeper snap strap before I accidently cut it off. I have to use a leg tie down to hold the sheath down as I remove the awesome blade. This is not a complaint! I like it like this. I was glad to see the pouch on the sheath for carrying my multi tool. That little feature is one reason I sometimes carry one of my small bowie type blades in a 'Blackhawk industries Deluxe Airborne' sheath. Nice to have two useful tools in one place.

I admired the black finish when I got the knife, and then said goodbye to it. Won't last long, I thought. I was wrong. After a couple of weeks of playing around with this puppy, I find the marks from using it just wipe off with mineral oil.
I'm not going to worry if it does ever flake or chip or wear off anyway.

Didn't mean to make this a mini-review, and I should not preach to the choir, as all of you already know about this great knife. But I did want to make a post of how happy I am with it. Happy too, as always, with the great price and super fast shipping from CR Specialties. Of course all you guys know about that as well.

Thanks Camillus, Thanks Mr. Becker (I enjoy the cookbooks as much as the knife) and thanks Cheryl. And to you guys here for posting so many kudos about this knife.

I bought a BK9 myself a few weeks back. I havent had a chance to use it yet, but the look and feel of it is outstanding. I doff my cap to all involved.

Given the name of the line, I had to get one at some point ;)

Best regards to all and I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!
