Bed frame steel angle

I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever made a knife using the steel angle that bed frames are made of?
Incidentally, the bed frames are manufactured from recycled railroad rails. I tried working with this stuff and I found it is extremely tough. I have ruined drills and band saw blades on it. I even tried annealing it and even that had little effect on changing its toughness. I figure that anything this tough might make a good cutting tool.

...you might want to check in at the Knifemakers section. Better place to ask this.

Long and short answer, you're probably not going to be too excited about the performace of bedframe steel (or railroad rail, either, for that matter...). Not enough carbon to offer enough wear resistance. Welcome to BF!!
