i recently got in a cold steel bushman and estwing hawk, i wasnt pleased with the bushmans handle and the coating on the estwing so i got some duplicolor bed armor and coated the handle on the bushman and the head and shaft of the estwing, this is how it turned out

Very tough coating and seems to protect it well, we will see!
