I gave the Beefy and crack at some firewood preparation this arvo. This thing batons like a champ and makes kindling sticks without even thinking about it. The wood here was a tree I had cut down at the rear of my house a year or so ago. Not sure what it is, I think it might be some sort of bluegum similar to my dining table. It smells like marmalade when you split it and it burns HOT.

That wood color, texture & scent description is reminiscent of larch we burn up here, though it is harder to find now. Thanks for the pics, that thicker chunk of SR101 would probably make the rmd handle feel about perfect like liners did on a .17 RMD for me. Hmm... this thread is gonna cost me. :)

Mate the feel of this knife is pretty much perfect for its size for me. The thicker stock fills it out and I reckon it feels better than the RMD. Not that the RMD is not any good, I just like the feel of this one better. It's the Swamp's answer the to the Boss Jack, and frankly, me likey. A lot!

Sick pics Rob, gotta love seeing them being used for what they were designed for. That Nuclear hardwood you have in OZ looks cool and I know what you are saying about the smell, our white oak in the US smells like sweets and attracts bees like crazy once split.
My Beefmandu loves a good thrashing.

Cheers Mate and thanks for sharing.

Nice to read some good stuff on it and yup, it cost me. I've got one on the way I've been contemplating for months. :D If it works out as nice as I hope, it may bump a few out others out of that size slot to free up some funds for the out for in program.

Tim you are going to love the Beefmandu. It has replaced several blades for me. Which combo did you get?

The flawed one Tequila Joe had with the grinding goof, tanker grey/black canvas with swedge. I figure character like that deserves a name like Ground Beefy. :)

Mine showed up yesterday and wow is it nice. Rob is right about it feeling better than the boss jack or shsj. The handle is perfect, what an excellent design! It chops well for such a small blade and batons great yet slices well too with the hollow grind. Definitely tied for favorite 6 incher with the SAR6.

Is the Beefmandu also a touch longer than the Ratmandu?
I'm in for thicker but if it's an inch or so longer I'm going to have to get one.

Well that does it, found my next SR to put in the collection. Should be a great user, I love my Ratmandu.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, the Beefmandu is way better feeling in my hand at 12.8 oz and .78" thick handles the extra length is just right.

Those are great pics, thanks for sharing.

It looks to me like the choil goes slightly higher/deeper into the blade and that it is a touch closer to the handle-am I seeing that right?

Yes and the choil feels excellent when choking up!

The blade is not as wide as on standard RMD, that's why choil looks different.
