First of all, let me say nice work! I've been looking at the posts here and I just love what I'm seeing. Especially some of the large fixed blades, even though I've never been especially fond of them in the past. Just superb!!

I made somewhere around 30 knives between 1990-92, all lockback type folders. Had 5 or 6 different shapes that I did, some with bolsters and some inlaid solid handles. I sold all but one and it's too nice to carry so I'm thinking of making a few more for my own use. They would be what I'll call utility knives which might be the same as what you guys call EDC? Something fairly thin so it's comfortable in my pocket and no so highly finished that it wants to be handled with any great care.

So here are some semi-crappy pics of my one last knife made 23 years ago...

And I gotta ask, what happened to the lockbacks? Seems like when I look at folding knives now it's all liner locks and frame locks! not that there's anything wrong with them, they just never seemed as interesting to me. Are lockbacks completely out of favor now or do some folks still do them?

Real nice look to that knife. Bring back the lock-back, I say!

There are certainly some significant makers who still favor lockbacks. Based on the example you've shown, I'd say there's no reason not to continue to do lockbacks. We are apparently neighbors so if you ever feel like coming by the shop, give me a shout. ohlemannr@hotmail.com

Your lock back is very nice. Would you make some more of this fancy version, please keep us posted. I 'd like to get one.
