Wood? Had it for quite a while.... Stabilized... Could be Redwood Burl...Not sure, but it is right pretty.

Hey there Robert - I've wondered where the hell you've been! Nice looking knife there, but I hate to tell you, it's a four piece knife.....don't forget the lanyard tube my friend.
