Its been a while since I've been on BF. I smoked my trusty old Dell over the summer and just haven't been online much. Anyways, been looking at traditional fixed blades, from small all the way to machete-sized blades. I really dig the Kephart design and own one made by Condor, but I'd like to take a step up in quality. Not high end, but just nicer. The Condor is an awesome worker, I just don't dig the finish on the blade. Ideas?

Becker BK62. Ethan Becker bought the only original Kephart-designed knife outside a museum, and based this replica on it. 1095 steel, walnut handle, 5” blade. Not outrageously expensive. A little bit bigger than the Condor.

I used acetone to take the coating off my Condor.

That is a pretty knife!

I can't remember what I tried to take the finish off my Condors.... paint stripper maybe?? Never thought of acetone... gotta look into that one. Thanks for the pics.

@JK Knives makes a great Kephart in multiple sizes. VERY reasonably priced custom knives with wonderfully heat treated O1 steel. Pic credit: @mqqn
