Here’s a version of a knife I have been making for military customers. Its one of my "T-series" (Tactical) knives. I usually use O1 or RWL34 and a 6-7inch blade, but this one is a custom-ordered version in CPM S30V & a 4.5inch blade. 10inch OAL. HT by Hills Heat Treatment with a cryo & triple temper - 59-60RC. Flat ground, convex edged, machine satin finished, one-sided swedge. Full thickness tang with exposed pommel for crushing & hammering. Contoured black G10 handles with 303SS tubular fittings.

We haven’t sorted out a sheath design yet. I usually furnish one of my simple Kydex or leather moulded sheaths, but we could be going for something special on this. Ie.- a sheath specialist.

This is a much larger knife than the 4.5inch blade length suggests & has quite some heft in the hand, as requested by the customer. Its effectively a compact survival knife in a simple design, created for work, rather than play.

I'm very happy with the feedback from the guys who use these knives, :D so I'm already confident that it is a "successful design" but I always appreciate opinions and feedback from all you guys. Thanks in advance. Jason.

Superb, Jason.......how about a sharpened clip?!? ;)

Thanks !! Good suggestion, Dudley. A couple of the bigger knives have had those extra sharp bits as requested by the customer, but on this one, the concept of the left-sided swedge is that when you (as a right-hander) turn the knife over to scrape eg.- a ferocium rod, you have a reasonably sharp spine that you don't have to worry about resharpening.

I've had some trouble with Customs last year, saying that some sharpened top edges qualify them as a "dirk", which are prohibited items in my jurisdiction. The main problem is when the guys who use these knives send it back to me for refinishing, resharpening etc. and customs won't let tit back in...

Ironically, if the knife is very large, then it can have a sharpened top edge and it won't be considered a dirk because it can't be concealed.    Make any sense ?

:) Jason.
