Hello forumites.

I've been away from the forums for the last six months, training for the RCMP. A gruelling, exhausting experience, but worth it in the end.

Over the last couple of months, I've had a couple questions come up. I have a line on a Randall Model 25 w/ stag and leather washer handle. Do these make a good everyday camp type knife? Ive heard they are prone to chipping. It is the carbon steel version. Are they worth carrying?
Also, has anyone used any knives from Mike Mann(Idaho Knife Works), other than the Cliff Knife?
Has anyone used knives made by Bill Buxton? I aquired one in a trade, and have not had the opportunity to use it, and may not for a while.
What is the Satin Jack, by Busse, like?
One last question, I keep seeing articles about Bob Dozier's WildernessModel, and I KNOW it is awesome, because they all are. But Bob's site says it comes with a kydex sheath, and I keep seeing articles stating a leather sheath is supplied. Who has one?

Thanks for the help

Jim,congratulations on becoming a trooper in the RCMP.On your question about Randall knives being prone to chipping I'd have to say that's untrue from personal experience.I have a model 26 in o-1 steel that has been used a lot,and find it a great knife. That chipping fable sort of reminds me about a fairly knowlegable shooter and excellent shot I knew in Texas who claimed Ruger Mini 14 rifles weren't any good because the bullets tumbled in flight.

*salutes* congratz with becoming a RCMP.
Sorry that I have no idea about the knives.
If you want a comtemporary camp knife, Becker C/U 7 and the Combat Bowie 9 takes the cake. They're about 50US and they're sharp and they definately can chop.
I hope you'll be more sensible to knife knuts like us in Canada carrying knives ;)
