Hey guys, I've been looking around or information on this knife, And its getting late here, And im just getting confused on the model numbers and eveything else, so I figured it would just save some time If i came out and asked ya all.

I've been looking at the buck strider 889 in 420 HC, And I think its a decent knife, I like the looks and everything else. The two things I would like to know, is if its a Strong knife, and if the 420HC holds good. I have a buck 110 and a 192, and the steel is fine, just wondering how they did on this. I also read a review here, I cant remember who did it rite off the top of my head, but they said quite a few good things about, in fact I think they really liked it. It could handle light chopping, and prying and what not. So, is it worth the 90 canadian I have to pay, I think it is, but I'd like to hear from you Fella's

I like mine too although it's not my favorite in the looks dept. I use mine as a coat pocket carrier. When I head to the bush with the labrador retriever, I have a good knife with me if I forget to pack the 110 or Leatherman.

How is the spacer gig on that knife?
Is it open like a 298GY Sirus or closed like a 110 Hunter?

So not too bad then, Good, IM looking for a tough knife, And when I saw strider and buck :D. I was happy to say the least, A strider for the poor man, I like it :D

I remembered this shot I took for another thread, thought I'd toss it in.

This is a closeup of the lock-up on my 889, as you can see it's VERY solid.

cool, Like I was sayin, I was kinda blundering the idea of buying a strider, then I came acrost the on from buck, And i've had good experiences with their 420HC, so I figured why not :)

Please give us your opinion when you get it. The 889 is near the top of my list of knives to buy.

I agree that there is room for a lot of confusion with these knives (882, 887, 889). The 889's look much like the 887 "Police Advocate" but are about $20 cheaper.

Fonly, just like to know where you planned on getting one. i think 90 Canadian is a little high. La Baron sells them for about $65CAD.

Hey TLC...
Thanks for the awesome (as always) pic and description of the 889 being open.
I prefer that for EDC as it's easier to clean the Spam out.
Thanks again...

Love my 889! I bought it just to compare it side by side to my Strider SnG, though not equal the 889 is a grippy beast with a stout blade. The thumbhole is perfectly positioned to open bear bottles too!

Only gripe is it is heavy in the pocket. I guess due to the materials they used.

Worth every penny! I say buy one in each color!

Oh and "Last Confederate" great review! On this blade! I bought mine due to your reviews and pix from a while back! THANKS. People like you make all of us Newbs blade hunting a lot easier !!!

Matt, I didnt know lebaron had them, I went to their site and they were still doing the 07 catalog, so I couldnt really tell. And im buying it from swordepot, its like $92, or $96. And the police advocate was 120, So I wanted the stridername on it anywas :D
