I spoke with Walter Erickson a couple of days ago and he assured me he is still in the custom balisong business and has never been out of it..........He has a new batch in the works and they are about a month away. He said he has a pretty good idea who started the rumor that he wasn't making them anymore but that it is completely false. He is working on a number of 3 1/2" and 4" bladed WeeHawks and Bowies; they will have stabilized burl wood inserts or whatever the customer wants on special order. His prices start around $300 for stainless insert handles and go up from there depending on the size and handle insert material, i.e., pearl, ivory, stag, etc..... If you're seriously interested in ordering one, e-mail me and I've got his new address and telephone number. His work is about as nice as it gets in custom balis and he has over 20 years experience. He and the late Ron Miller quit the Knifemakers Guild because they wouldn't permit them to sell or display them at the Guild Show. I also learned from our conversation that he used to machine all the handles for Ralph Turnbulls butterfly knives. I've got a couple of his knives as does Chuck Gollnick and Chefget(!) and I assure you that you will be more than satisfied!
Here's a couple more.......... http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=667533&a=11745540
