I got some surg-tubing from Doc a while ago and I finally got to use some. I used it to cover a lanyard for my bk-14.

Weird. Why would you want to cover the lanyard with surgical tubing?
Don't get me wrong. I've done my share of weird stuff. Just curious, I guess.

Cause it give me an easy way to carry the tubing, along with it makes the lanyard quite nice wrapped around my wrist, it doesn't dig in at all, it doesn't matter how much pressure is being put on it.

Wow, never thought of that. I bet it would be comfy, and its a pretty good way to carry a slingshot. I saw a lanyard idea awhile back, I think it was Moose, where he attached the lanyard so you could hold the tip of the blade for things like dressing game, while the handle was snug to your forearm. This would be good for that! And btw, he did it with a 9:D it would be pretty useful I think.

I use a paracord lanyard on choppers, not sure about the idea of having a sharp edged tool on a sling shot strap though, sounds like a good way to get some stitches to me.

The lanyard is paracord, it is just covered in the tubing. I wouldn't use the tubing as a lanyard, that just seems to defeat the purpose of a lanyard as a safety thing.

I think its an awesome idea. I saw a knife that had some tubing wrapped under the paracord on the knife handle. And not to mention u have a slinshot, tournequet, or whatever else you could think of to use it for!

inneresting. I wouldn't have though of using a wrist lanyard on such a small knife.

I like the ideal a lot bro.
When I first read the thread title I thought, I hope his wife doesn't get on BF too :D

Surgical tubing has all sorts of good uses. It is a good thing to have a little along. In addition to the things mentioned above, it will also work as a drinking straw for getting a very small amount of water out of a puddle or something like that. It also does decently well as a strap for light burdens. The neatest one I've seen is a homemade harness for a Go Pro camera. This is Mickey Grosman, leader of the Amazon 5000 Expedition.

I have to give credit to Mickey for introducing me to the use of surgical tubing in the wilds.

I've used a small diameter peice to help focus air when trying to blow a ember into a fire. You can't blow too much air thru a small peice and it can be directed very preciesly.

Never gave much thought to many other uses.

Ok, I get it. I guess I just never thought of taking surgical tubing with me. Looks like it would be useful after all. Thanks C-Bear.

Only reason I thought of it was cause AIG was talking about it at the gathering. It wasn't something I came up with.
