What's going on everyone? As the title says I've been gone for some months due to a health issue. Me and the gf have been trying to have another kid but were not having any luck so we decided to go see our doctors to see what was going on. I had a feeling about me due to some symptoms that I had been having. After some tests the doc confirmed what I thought, Type 2 Diabetes. Even though I had my suspisions it was still a bit of a kick in the nuts. Luckily I don't have to take the insulin shots, just the pills once a day. So the doc told me about the American Diabetes Association site and I pretty much just buried myself in there doing research on it. Finding out about diet, excercise, the health problems that can be caused by it and what to do to avoid them. My blood sugar was at 275 when the test results came back  and it supposed to be 80 to 100 or 110 depending on who you ask. So I had a check up 3 months after I was diagnosed and got some good news. My blood sugar was a bit high when they did a blood test but he told me my Hemoglobin A1C was way down. He explained that the blood sugar check I do daily is just a indication of what it is at that time and the A1C is a average of the 3 months in between check ups and that is the number that is the most important. It is supposed to be in the single digits and at 7 or under. When I was first diagnosed it was at 12.8  which the doctor didn't tell me about but at the check up it was down to 7.62. The doc even said he was rather amazed it had come down that much in only 3 months. The diet has obviously been a huge help as I've even dropped some weight now as well. Things are going pretty good now so now I have a little more time to get caught up here amongst the RAT Pack. Good thing as I would have been bummed if I had missed out on the RP Knife.

On the home front it has just been a blur. My daughter turned 4 years old back in August and I have absolutely NO idea where those 4 years went. We went up north to Door Co. where my parents live for the weekend and I thought I'd take her out for her first little hiking adventure. I brought along my RC-3 and got the  from the gf as I strapped it on. Yes she is a 110% citified girl whose idea of camping is a hotel w/o room serivce so any and all outdoor activities will be done with daddy. Suits me just fine :D. Took her on some trails around the house and she had just a blast. She got a little freaked out when se saw her first snake but got over it fairly quick and then wanted to chase it. Of course I had to pull the dickhead move and forget the camera at the house . Anyway we are going up again in a couple of weeks so hopefully we'll have time to go out again and this time I'll be sure to bring the camera along :o. Thought I'd share a few pics from her B-Day weekend.

Welcome back, good to see you!
Seems like you got what it takes to keep diabetes at bay, considering the developement from first checkup to second. That is very very good. It can take a lot of self discipline in the first phase, but just buying the right foods and excercising will become second nature after a while. Good luck and all the best for your battle.

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your health issues, but it sounds like you are doing all you can to stay healthy, keep it up and best of luck in your fight! And congrats to your daughter, she looks like she really enjoyed the cake. :D

Welcome back XD45!

Glad you are doing better. I am all to familiar with diabetes as my grandmother was diabetic, my mother was & my son became diabetic (type 1) about 2 years ago at age 21. As your Dr. probably told you, your diet is the key.

Thanks for sharing the pics! Your daughter looks like a sweet girl. She'll never forget the time you spend with her in the outdoors.

Take care!

Welcome Back , I knew something was missing. Glad to hear your diet is working out for you and you don't have to take insulin shots, also it's good to hear that your exposing your kid to the outdoors early.

Good to have you back. Type 2 isn't so bad. I have had it for about 9 years now, just keep an eye on your diet, and watch what medicines you take for things like colds and flu, some can really mess with your sugars.

Good luck bro, hope you enjoyed the colors up in Door, is the drive in still open, or did it close for the year?
