Hi fellas,
I picked up an old robeson Shuredge hawkbill at a flea market for peeling down walking sticks. It had poorly finished walnut scales, but I took them off and added the scales pictured below, can you guess what type of wood they are? ;)

Is there a prize for guessing ? hm ? HMM ??

hehe i'm gonna say... Osage as my first pick and then ...hmm , Applewood.

nope neither osage nor apple wood. here is some hints, it's not a very popular wood, and it grows in Ohio

hmm... sycamore ? I cheated and found a website with like 100 or more trees that grow in Ohio.. lol

okay lets try maple, ahgar
and by the way you have now flung a hawkbill craving on me. dang

okay lets try cherry, you do realize you're going to have to tell us in a month or so if we don't guess right???? later, ahgar

Tulip Poplar

Though it doesn't look like most of the poplar wood I've seen, with the dark bands. Poplar varies depending on what part of the tree it was taken from, so it's worth a guess. Plus, rereading your hint....:D

The Tulip Poplar is one of my favorite trees.

aged woodington woodward wood, from a tree.:D I have no idea. But you did a great job!

Wood tree ? crabapple ? pine ? oak ? fig ? peach ? pear ? plum ? eucalyptus ?

Come out with it man !
