Bought this off Bay, Guessing 67 to 72 but now sure how to tell the difference due to spacer material. Any info would be great. TY

 
The spacers changed from fiber to micarta in 1969, yours are micarta. That narrows it down from '69 to early '72 after which the model # is added.

Do I see a new sheath in its future? Don't think you are going to be able to make a silk purse out of that sows ear. /Roger

Does the lack of a rivet at the top of the stitching narrow down the date?
 
When my ACL on my right thumb is repaired, I may be able to get a sheath out in a few months.
 
I was unaware the spacer covered the entire bottom of the guard.

Interesting thought but if you laid out a bunch of sheaths from the same variation knife and there were minor differences, how would you know which came first? I generally know a little about which style sheath goes with which variation of knife (using details on the backside) but to break it down finer than that I don't think is doable.
 
The spacers tended to lift up and separate in time from the bottom of the guard. If the knife happened to go back to Buck.....they cut them off at the guard to avoid having to fix them later. Some people cut them off themselves when they started to separate. That's why you see some all the way out and some cut off.
 
Spa service done today. Had a kitchen knife edge touched up as well. They are awesome.
 
Great looking 119 Mike! It kills me how they can bring these knives back to life!
Here's a post-spa 118 that they didn't trim the spacer. The 118 I have in my hunting pack still has the spacer as well after a spa trip.

The rivet was added later, but I don't know if it was added during the 2 line 119's production.
