Looks like new. Nice collection MW. Joe's the man.

I am missing the Akonua as well as a couple of the folders.

Someday.

Put, your Akonua had a rough life. Glad Joe could help it look better. I've always thought the 402 was a better design than some others. A handsome maroon micarta assembly. DM

Another picture of the great spa job that Buck does. The knife came out well and I am sure you are pleased. Did you do anything to the sheath? If you did please show that also. Just looked one more time and Wow!

For my tastes--- it's got the right blade width, length, shape and some belly. With enough handle and a choke-up finger choil. To make it a good field knife. All you could add is a lanyard hole. The sheath is also well made. When the 401 & 402 came out they were Buck's top of the line offerings. DM

I'm trying my hand at restoring the sheath. If I can get it up to standard I'll post it.

MW, that came out beautifully. Too bad they couldn't do the sheath as well.

I agree with DM. The Akonua is a greatly proportioned knife. I don't see as many of them compared to the Kalinga, but I wish Buck would bring back the Akonua as well. They sure are top of the line in my book.

Congratulations on not only that one, but your collection. Looking good!

i've never returned on to Buck for the spa treatment. Does it include sharpening?

It does. For the $6.95 per knife which basically covers return shipping, the knife you send gets buffed, polished, repaired and sharpened. If there is a repair needed you should include a note to Joe stating such to make sure it's brought to their attention. Actually the entire package you send should be to Joe.

Glad to see you have your focus set on collecting….Reds and Club knives!! :)

Very nice set!!
