I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS KNIFE AND WANTED TO GET A RUGGED LOOK TO THE BLADE.
I TREATED THE BLADE WITH OXPHO BLUE AND THEN SOAK THE BLADE IN A RAG SOAKED WITH BLEACH.
I DID NOT WANT HEAVY PITTING SO I ONLY SOAKED FOR A FEW MINUTES.
MY WIFE LIKED THE BLUED LOOK BUT I WANTED THE AGED EFFECT.
ANY TIPS OR RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.THANKS

Actually I kinda like it both ways. Both have character. Oh wow another lousiana knife maker! Havnt found anyone else here who enjoys this also lol.

I haven't done this finish but I have heard to lightly sand it with 800 grit to get the aged look. Do it by hand and get the high points done a bit more to make it look used.

I'm not in favor of giving advice on something I haven't done but I have seen this tip given a lot, yet not here.

I have done the sanding on a ferric chloride patina to achieve a "used" finish and this worked very well.

Applying a patina before glue up can work better but can complicate things.
