Before - Had a old elk 305 that had a chipped rear scale at the spring pin and someone had added an offbreed pen blade, by drilling out bolster hole and installing larger pivot pin.

Sent it in to Leroy Remer, he just couldn't save the old elk scales that had turned green with oil and age. (Lots of old ones get that look and I felt that was my greatest loss) He finally talked me into total redo with new scale. Won't be able to claiim it as collectors knife but will make a high class watch pocket knife. Could have left it for oddball category but so much had been done to the pen blade it I just felt bad.
Whatda' think. 300Bucks

Ah, a request for opinions!!! I have an opinion... :D

I think it looks extraordinary!!! Leroy has done a masterful job on it!!!

But I disagree on the "collectors knife" comment...I think any knife worked on by an established and recognized knife "mangler", whether Remer, Cody, Yellowhorse, Randall, or any of a number of others I don't even know would qualify as "collectors knives"...:thumbup:

If I were to see you advertise this as an "oddball" Buck 307 on eBay, I probably wouldn't pay it any attention...but if you headed it as a "Leroy Remer Custom Buck 307", it would pique my interest...

Buck collectors may be a small minority, but certain names in our little niche community do command respect...

...My $.02...

I wonder if that pen blade was intended for use as a screw driver?

I think I would have left it alone as a curiosity. Kind of interesting.

But the redo is nice also.

The back of tab of pen blade is bent over to act in the same purpose as a nail nic. I have seen the same blade on a cheap knife but failed to write down maker. I also failed to add, Leroy felt if he touched the knife there was a good chance the back scale would break apart. If the pivot pin on the pen blade had been the correct size, I would have left it alone as odd ball. But since it had been drilled out, and roughly, I went with what it is.......just wanted to know the good and bad opinions.
New knife looks great, my greatest hurt was the green elk scale from age. And Trax is right, it is a Triple-R-Custom......300

Its always sad to lose some old bone, but he did an incredible job.
Looks terrific

300bucks, it look great... I like it better now... That's just me... Like always, Leroy did a Great job...   ...

The re-do looks great, and I would still classify it as a collectors knife. I'd bet everyone that has bought a knife Leroy has reworked, would classify it a a collectors knife. Sometimes collectors just appreciate a cool knife

Leroy Remer ... talked me into total redo with new scale. Won't be able to claiim it as collectors knife but ...
