Hey guys/gals,

Don't know if this topic has been discuss before but i've been reflecting on when i first discovered Blade Forum (BF).

How were you guys/gals before BF. Did you all think that you are the thorns among the leaves prefering knives rather than coins, poster etc. collection?. How did the BF community change all that?.

Have the knowledge of all these individuals sharing interest in knives (and flashlights) bring more confident for you to show your collection to non-knife person?. Make you carry your utility EDC more often?. Make you actually admitting to non-close friends that you have a B.O.B at home in case of emergency?.

I know I have. Confidence in not thinking that i am the Lone Survivor and the only person thinking ahead of emergencies before it happen and let fate decides whether you live or die (soory t obe on the serious side ... you know what i mean). I for one shows my collection more often now and do advise to friends (those whom i care about) on the importance to BE PREPARED!!.

Cut things short ..... thanks BF for introducing me to this wonderful group of individuals ......... and to all BF members ... remember be vocal cause its your individuality that makes the different.

Bob

Before blade forums, a knife was a knife. No big deal. I was a gun man. Now I am a very addicted knife junkie and cannot get enough knowledge. I keep copious notes, copies of photos, printed out posts in a loose-leaf binder. I just started my third binder, I am on page 765. I am now starting to understand grinds, blade materials and the art of stropping and sharpening. I have always been prepared and always on aleert, and always ready, but with a sharp metal stick instead of a REAL knife.
I also Had money, did NOT live in the garage, Did NOT have my kids call me Mr. 'knife-Psycho" and my wife USED to kiss me instead of kicking me in the nads when the credit card bill arrives....OUCH!!!
But, I have met 99.9999999999999999 percent wondeful, caring, compassionate people always willing to help and I am much for the better.
but now my kids all want to go to the knife show sunday next door in MA. Gee, everyone wants to go to the show:rolleyes:  EXCEPT my wife who knows I will probably melt the credit card!!!!! And YUP, get kicked in the nads!!!!!!:D :D :D wolf

Before BF, I was a knife nut that didn't know sh!t about knives. Although I still basically don't know sh!t, I know a whole lot more than I used to. Thanks BF.

Before BFC I thought about knives when the new Blade magazine came out or when there was a show in the NYC area, (twice a year). After BFC I think about knives every day and every night I'm on Chat talking knives with makers and other Knifenuts. The NYC knife shows have become secondary to Blade Show in Atlanta. Because of BFC I'm part of community of people who share a common passion for knives. I'm still hesitant to talk about my collection with non-knife people, usually just showing the knives I'm carrying and never getting more into it unless there's some genuine interest in it. So without BFC I'd pretty much be a closet collector.

Thanks for being there folks. ;)
