I picked up this assortment of knives last week for a total of $35. Now, I know five of them are not Bucks and four are just a utility knife (all like new), but I was after the 110's. Turns out one is a two dot and the other a four.

The four dot seems to have had more use (abuse) than the two dot and has lost a little blade from sharpening. I think Buck could salvage it with out a blade change and make it a descent user for someone. The two dot is in much better shape and I know I'll send it in after the holiday rush.

What do you think? Is the four dot worth sending in? :thumbdn: ??

Dave, I do not think that Buck would be able to get that one back to new, but I would send it with the 2 dot anyway. I think you will be surprised how well it does clean up. It will still make for a fine user!!!

I guess it's worth it to give the old guy a make over. After all, it gave the best years of it's life to someone. Maybe I can get it cleaned up, put it out to pasture and let it live out it's life in leasure.

I'll send it in with the other one when I send this one in for repair. I've tried just about everything that's been suggested and it still won't snap closed. :(

If it won't snap closed, I'd imagne the spring is worn out. I take these apart often, and that's my opinion. If you want to change the spring yourself you need to take the blade out first. That way you can keep the scales in place. That's how Buck does it. They show repairing a 110 on their video "A Look Inside" available on their website.

I doubt the spring is worn on that one Z28, thats a new BCCI knife that just shipped.

I forgot to add in my first post, I like that scale variation on that 2 dot!!! Too cool!

One of my BCCI paperstones has an off-center blade. It doesn't touch the frame, but it's very close. Looking down the blade and spring, it almost looks like the blade is slightly bent. I'm considering sending that in when I send others in for sharpening/refurbishing. It's discouraging to see that on a factory new knife, especially one in such a limited production run. - And yes, after the New Year and not before mid-January (allowing a little catch-up time).

Something may be broken, but if it is, it came from the factory that way. This is straight out of the Limited Edition box it came in.

I can't imagine how it could have gotten out like that, but I do know that Buck will fix it for me. I was just waiting until I had some others to send in. No sense paying for shipping to them more than once. I can send all three of these for the same cost as shipping just one.

As far as fixing one (any Buck) myself? Not a chance. It's so reasonable to have the real professionals (at Buck) do it, that I can't see it being worth my time and effort.

Sorry I thought we were talking about an old knife not snapping closed, I'm new to this Bladeforums game!

Thats ok, but even if it was an old knife, I'd send it to Buck rather than tackle the job myself. They have the tools and the skills I lack. I'm just a clutz and not to mention lazy.;)

A funny thing happened with the auction listing that had this bunch of knives. It had only been listed an hour or so when I did the Buy it Now. Shortly after that, I received a message from eBay telling me that the auction listing had been removed due to a listing violation and if I hadn't paid for it, I didn't have to.

According to the seller, they removed the listing because of that man killer "push knife" in the mix ! Man, that thing looks like something more at home on a charm bracelet than on someone's list of dangerous weapons. I had a pretty good laugh over that one.;)

Dave send that one in with the rest of them. You will be happy you did, it will come back better than you would ever expect it to!

They are all three going in next week. I've got to look through some others to see if there are anymore that should go at the same time.

Your really think Leroy works on all those knives . I've heard he has a jar of 'Pixie' dust he sprinkles around his shop and they all come out clean . DM ;)

I saw it mentioned when they were first shipped, but I never mentioned that my Paperstone 110 also has an issue snapping closed. It does close, but super slow. I know it's meant to be a user, but I only bought one so I won't be using it. I got the charcoal web special as my 110 user. Nice find on the 110's.

I think thats the right thing to do Plum. If you were only going to send the 4 dot alone, there might be some question but if its going to ride for free with the others, you are crazy not to send it in. I think you will be surprised at just how well it turns out. For 6.95, its worth the risk.
