My first post. Interested to know if anyone else has experienced a long wait for a field grade Bodega? I'm now into 14th week and have yet to receive notification it's ready. Informed when ordered it may take a few days longer due to choosing red. Told 8 to 10 weeks not 14 plus. No update from Begg. Worth the wait...will see.

The times I've dealt with Begg Knives they have had very poor communication and slow service. That being said their knives are very nice. Well made, etc. High prices, you can find some threads arguing they are overpriced, but they are very nicely made. If you're not set on red you can almost always find one on the exchange for close to retail price if you don't want to wait any more.

Thanks..I'm looking forward to the red scale. Emailed Drew again today to check status. Keeping fingers crossed.

I was just there myself. Sent in my Black and Gold Bodega for repair. (long story, my bad) I just talked to them about every 2 to 4 weeks to check in. I cut them the slack they need, because in order to fix my knife they had to pull somone of the assembly line and were talking about only a few guys there doing the work. I got it back after about 10 or so weeks; it was worth the wait. Consider that I talked to Andre Thorburn's ordering lady this morning about making me a knife; the wait was a little over a year. Custom and simi-custom knives have low production runs, plain and simple. The best things in life are worth waiting.

I waited 11 weeks for my jade field grade bodega (early Nov 2014 arrived). It was well worth the wait it's the most expensive knife I own and well worth the price. I was a mess waiting for it but sure enough it arrived and I haven't put it down.

Waiting 10 weeks for a repair on a $500+ knife seems absolutely absurd to me.

I had a custom repaired earlier this year by a maker with a 2 year back log and I had it returned to me in less than a week.

Lol, not a production Field Grade Bodega, it's the original titanium frame Black and Gold. They had to CNC a new Bar Lock assembly, have it gold anodized and then hand fit it. Heck the cost alone was $345, but it's a 2k knife.

My opinion is Begg knives can (whoops my bad. Thought I was on jerzee Devils. Sorry mods). I truly feel they are probably the most overrated and overpriced production knives currently available. Customer service Is horrible. The guy who answers the emails about the products is an investor and doesnt know anything about the products and when you have a problem they stop answering emails when they cant seem to resolve the issue. I owned a field grade bodega and I feel like it was a total waste. I even at one point almost convinced myself that it was worth the money I paid at the time. But honestly I just didnt want to admit that I had been taken on the deal. And I was even able to get it at the old price of $550 and that to me is about $400 too much for what the thing is. Had they had anything resembling customer service I might have kept the knife as I figured maybe you were getting a no questions asked warranty. In fact I was incorrect and it turns out its a "no questions answered" warranty. Unless things have changed recently I would avoid them.

Did I mention starting price for a locking folder at over $700 bills and the thing has N690CO steel? At that price you should be getting a true premium steel and their "ceramic bearing" upgrade should be included. They claim they werent making a dime on their products when selling at their old pricing. IMHO someone was either skimming the profits or they just got greedy.

from my time with Todd's Brother at Bladeshow they were a great looking/feeling knife for a decent price, an alternate option would be a Diskin fire these are about the same price and about the same quality (expect that the diskins I played with were autos) in my opinion (which is based solely on my time at bladeshow)

Lol hence why I said $500+. + being the key, not knowing if it was production or custom. But I understand you need to brag about your 2k knife. Enjoy!

My opinion is Begg knives can fuck themselves with their products. I truly feel they are probably the most overrated and overpriced production knives currently available. Customer service sucks a dick, the guy who answers the emails about the products is an investor and doesnt know anything about the products and when you have a problem they stop answering emails when they cant seem to resolve the issue. I owned a field grade bodega and I feel like it was delivered straight up my ass. I even at one point almost convinced myself that it was worth the money I paid at the time. But honestly I just didnt want to admit that I had been grabbing my fucking ankles on the deal. Unless things have changed recently I would avoid the company like an african hooker saying she is clean but doesnt have a condom.

IMHO someone was either skimming the profits and shitting the bed or they have some of the most inefficient fucktarded manufacturing methods and want the customers to pay for it.

+1. Post of the year, thank you.

I will agree with Purple. I went to the NYCKS and got to handle some of the knives. I was shocked to see that they all had different flipping actions. The finish also left much to be desired with flaws in a lot of places. The price is also very high for the quality and commonality. I also heard about their customer service or lack thereof by some very respectable members on here and friends. Because of all this, I have passed up many times on Todd Begg knives. I'm not hating, just telling itike it is.

There is no excuse for the customer service. This is a shop with many people working. I just got a knife from a maker with a 7yr wait list, one of the best in the world, one man operation and he responded to all my emails within a day. I have 2 customs coming from makers that have indefinitely books and they not only respond timely but are extremely courteous, again, one man shops.

Didn't mean to come across as bragging in the least. There are much better things to beat your chest over than a pocket knife. To bad the OP got the response he did in his first visit.
with regard to customer service, if I have the need for a direct answer I make a phone call. My expire nice with Begg Knives and Drew in particular was a pleasant exchange in conversation. I called three times for an update and each time spoke directly to Drew. Can't say I had a bad experience.
My advice to the OP, if you like what you see buy it. I've see much more expensive knives that don't interest me.

Begg Knives are like the Nike shoes of the folder world. His limited stuff like the Black and Gold are always so tempting but for the prices that he charges i would opt for a custom from some of the other fellas out there that don't fleece people with inferior production models for almost custom prices. The Glimpse is 11-1300 dollars, has his name on it but is put together by a shop guy. His guys are no doubt skilled but for 1200 dollars i want Todd Beggs work, not some guy who works for Todd.

Glad everyone enjoyed my rant but I do have to apologize. I had too many windows open and made the mistake that I was on another forum that allows such language. Sorry to the mods, mothers and there children. And thanks for not swinging the ban hammer on my error.

I have to agree with you on this point. But like they say, it's wort what someone is willing to pay.
In all honesty, I finally found a Andre Thorburn Blue Ti in carbon fiber that I wanted. Paid half the price of the B/G Bodega and it's truly a work of art; also functions like no other knife I own. I've actually lost interest in trying to find anything to top it.
