Let me introduce myself. I'm sooner7nc (Mike). I've wanted to make knives for quite some time and recently took the leap and started doing just that, however I'm eager to increase my ability and knowledge so any criticism would be greatly appreciated. Most of what I know came from trial and error and what I could glean from Wayne Goddard's $50 Knife Shop book as well as bouncing ideas off of a friend who's at about the same level as me. Lots of broke stuff and burnt metal in that last one :)
Well, I'm glad to be here and hope I can add something.

W1 (old file) Small Game knife.
Mesquite scales that I cut from a fallen tree in the back yard. Copper pins.
Edge quenched

1095 with Mesquite slabs and a little bit of file work (1st time).
Edge quenched. This one's a handy little fat guy. The CEO of the company I work for is using it this deer season to "evaluate" it. I told him to abuse the hell out of it.

Simple file work

1095 with Brazilian Cherry scales and a tiny bit of filework to cover up a tool mishap.

I'm really digging those man. I like the third one, and how you got creative and made something cool out of a mistake.

Happens to me all the time, and it ends up cooler than the original idea.

I like the third one alot! Keep up the good work!

Oh and btw, nice sheathwork too! The basketweave and the stitches are very neat. Grab a bottle of Feibings spirit dye, and some gum tragacanth from tandy leather. After dye is applied and dry, apply the gum trag on the edge and rub it in with an old piece of smooth antler. It will burnish and smooth any rough spots. It's easy to do, and i think you'll like the result.
