Here is an article that casts some doubts on the videos' authenticity.
article

what do you guys think ?

I think we have to be very careful about what we believe that comes out of a war zone...

I have no doubt about the video.

Even if I did, it wouldn't change my mind about the enemy. Kill them all.

Interesting article. I think there are a lot of unanswered questions about him. Why WAS the US checking him out??

I still wonder if he was some sort of a double agent.

As much as I distrust our government right now I don't think they did him in. If they were gonna go that far why not go ahead and plant some nerve gas somewhere so the WMD thing would seem valid?

Well, if it is a fake, have we done something to people who had nothing to do with it ?
Have we punished or been unkind to people who were innocent?
All I am suggesting is that we be exceedingly careful about this kind of thing.

I, for one, can easily believe he may have been dead when decapitated. I was struck immediately by the almost total absence of blood dripping from the neck of the head when it was held up for the camera. I didn't want to be ghoulish and present a conspiracy theory right off the bat. Another strange occurance was the jostling of the camera during the very first part of the cutting.
Definite food for thought here I'd say.

Larry S.

Since the headless body was found before the video came out, I doubt it was a fake.

Pretty intriguing idea that he was an agent for the Arabs considering that he was Jewish...One's paranoia should be tempered with reason.

The US Government doesn't own any proprietary equipment which could fake a film beyond the scrutiny of England, Germany, Japan and France.

At any rate, if you were going to do a fake, why a simple beheading? Make it bigger.

Anti American, Anti Bush paranoia.

Sounds like Skunk works.. Have to wait long after Bush's reign and see if any watergate type incident going on! I'm for all the brave men over in Iraq, but this is getting to smell like another Vietnam...REMFs and politicians care less for common soldiers, there are many broken hearted over here as well as over there. Bush is not going to sent her daughter up the front or even rear.
I don't see the opposition as enemies, as they think they are rebels fighting for a just cause (Star wars)
If I fight, I will fight for the Esprit de corp and not for politicians. Is the band of brothers and sisters we fought together with, feel together, and die together. May the force be with the just and stay safe!

Yeah, plant some VX nerve gas and find it. That would help the cause way more than a decapitation video.

If the video was faked, does that make the victim any less dead?

Didn't think so.

Rusty has a special way with words, don't he?

:p :p :p

I used to joke that should we find no WMD, we'd better airlift one of the old rotting soviet reactors in some dark night to the desert....

But you're right- if we were going to fake it- make it VX and big.

Killing an innocent person is evil. I don't know why beheading is presented as any more evil than shooting someone in the head. Shooting people seems to be the preferred method for assassins and terrorists in the Middle East.

In the lab - animal researchers often claim that decapitation is one of the most humane ways to kill rats. It is probably little different than a bullet in the head in terms speed of causing death. Dead is still dead....

We are dealing with a bunch of evil terrorists. I just hope that everyone knows that the majority of the citizens of Iraq or Saudi Arabia are not responsible for the actions of the few slimeballs - the scum - like the killers in the oil centers of Saudi Arabia today.

Remember that we are not at war with Iraq - we are at war with Al Quaida.

So it's OK to HATE others as long as we do it in the name of LOVE/MERCY/ RIGHTEOUSNESS?

That seems to be their justification as far as I can understand it. But it's not alright to return like for like?

The fact is that someone sets the rules of the game. Who is it that sets the rules?

The Terrorist who demeans us religiously or ideologically to the point he can feel justified in use of any atrocity because we are not true believers by his standards?

Or is it those who see things as we do? If so, we have to define what the limits of our response should be. And then respond consistently.

If our government isn't doing that, it is forfeiting it's most basic duties to guard our safety and thus losing it's right to govern us.

It's as simple and as difficult as that.

There are two reasons beheading someone is not the same as shooting them in the head. For one thing, beheading has been banned by most of the nations that once practised it as barbaric and cruel. For another, the innocent gentleman's head was not simply removed from his trunk as a gullotine might have done, but sawed off with a dullish knife.

as an aside to those who seriously wonder about the veracity of the film and point to the comparatively bloodless head as proof: the head was sawed, and had time to discharge blood while on the floor. Though the head contains a considerable amount of blood, it should not take long to discharge it. It is the neck arteries that would have continued spurting. There was a large pool of blood on the floor.
