Hi Everybody,

So I have been seeing a bunch of very nice and well executed Baldric and behind the back rigs made of leather and what not. Very nice work from several skilled craftsmen.

With that said, I wanted to come up with something that would work for any kydex sheath that has eyelets on both sides.

It will also work with AK size down to even a Battle mistress.

Super simple was what I was after.

Hope it helps enjoy everybody

1.First get a Buy Brown sword sheath ;)

2. Get 16 feet of para-cord, well only if you are as fluffy as me :)

3. Bring both ends together and tie a knot, run a lighter over it so it will not fray.

P1070105.jpg

4. Take non-knotted end and run through eyelet by the mouth of the sheath, I do the edge side .

5. run through eyelet at the bottom of the sheath on the same side and the first one you ran it through.

6. now run it through the other eyelet on the bottom of the sheath
.

7. run it through the other eyelet on the opposite of the very first eyelet you started with
.

8.once you get it adjusted to fit snug when you are wearing the sheath as you want it, lace the remaining para-cord through the eyelets as shown tying it off how you like.

Now you have 18 feet of para-cord and a cool behind the back rig :)

Behind the back handle up. Worn like a back pack by splitting the cords 2 on each side.

Is that a mini rucki? Given the frame of reference it looks smaller somehow....

Its actually a Bear cub, I am a small fella

NICE! I like the first set up, baldric cross draw...

The illustrations are great, thanks for that...I tried on a couple beasts today...works good.

The behind the back handle up (back pack)...I'd probably scalp myself in an emergency scenario. Never a good idea to scalp yourself to commence an emergency response...
Heh heh heh...for some reason this reminds me of a time many years ago when a friend of mine made a G10 tension fit scabbard for a long (14 inch blade) knife (tension on the blade...so much that the edge rode the sheath...it was made in three layers, much like a leather sheath). We were drinking beers one night and he was bragging about his sheath and started showing off doing quick draws and stuff. We soon realized that the edge of his "combat" Knife was completely dulled by drawing it against the G10 layer in the sheath. We all started laughing our asses off when we realized the irony of making a "combat" knife sheath that dulls the edge when you draw the knife!...Never a good idea to start off a knife fight by immediately dulling your edge... The look on his face while we were all laughing was classic... Awesome memory... not sure how I got here but... oh yeah, thinking about cutting the back of my scalp while drawing a knife... Funny memory...

That's a nice lightweight economy method of carrying my Basic 9 around camp once taken out of the ruck sack ... I like the strong sided handle down behind the back idea ... the knife is out of the way if leaning over a fire etc so won't swing down and dip into the flames which has happened with a standard baldric crossdraw when I've been adding wood to the fire ... or an inverted baby pack style carry by splitting the cords with a rear downward draw ... this would prevent the knife swinging round even better ... Cheers David ... really good tip

My Basic 9, and 11 will work fine like this ... but what would you do with your Zilla sheath ? I think I might get away with using the tek-lok as an anchor point up by the handle and eyelets towards the bottom ... it is heavy knives like the Zilla which are much more prone to swinging around and getting in the way on a standard baldric carry.

This looks to be a nice easy solution ... so long as you are'nt on a public camp site ... :D ( "Honey ... there's a nutter lose with a huge knife !!!") :D

Thanks for the step by step, David.

I guess this would work with large blades and short swords equally well. May try setups like this from time to time. Have a ton of 550 around and when the spare time hits, playing with ideas (like the one you posted) helps get through any boredom.

Oh, and I am liking that t-shirt.

Dave, why are you playing around with a toothpick? Why not pick a real knife? :D
Love the mermaid on the back of the t-shirt!
The set up would be even more comfy if you pulled the inner strands from the cord.

Was enjoying your post a second time around, and noticed you started with 16 feet of para cord, and ended up with 18 feet. You da man to stretch that stuff. Lol, just having fun with you David.:D

Gonna try this on my Rucki! Thanks!
So where are the pics everybody ?
I do not want to be the only one looking like a ninja that had too much bacon :)
