Behind The Scenes @ Fiddleback Forge

Just a friendly reminder these knives are for “Preview” not “Pre-sale”.

From Monday’s glue-up

We had the honor of Carl Rechsteiner coming down to the shop today. He was giving Andy some advice on all things anvil related.

This is going to be a forged “leaf” once completed.

Did some one say Ruby....maybe black liners with white pins?????:p Always on a lookout for that combo.....

As always, had a great visit with you guys. Gheezee.....we covered a lot of ground in half a day! Hope I can remember half of it....
Didn't take Ivy that long to realize my old knuckles didn't taste all that good.

It was great to have you come by Carl. Hopefully next time you see this place the forging area is all set up.

I predict that the Judy Garland special OS "Ladyfinger in Ruby Slippers" will be a popular target with the Sharks tomorrow. I will watch the action from the bleachers along the Yellow Brick Road.

Good luck Sharks!

Aw....as you can see I can usually make-do just about anywhere if I have fire & hammer. That Mankel deserves to be used....properly. Be glad to use it anytime.

Healing kind of slow - wasn't a finesse hit if you know what I mean. It's going to have to play catchup as I have way too much to get done. It is my "tong" hand and was having a little trouble holding larger stuff yesterday (forged out 8 blades and a couple of hardies for my new anvil). We've been discussing it over a cup of coffee all morning. Tylnol is helping a little.
Got Miss Lilly (from TR) coming over this am for forging lessons and a tune up on her forge (yeah, she's got her dad loading and unloading all her forging gear). She has the desire and potential to be another Scout if boys don't get too much in the way (she's 12 now). Know I'm all in for teaching her all I can. If I can remember to take pics i'll post a few later.

Glad to hear it's healing, even if it's slow. Sorta the rule once you pass 25 - they don't make spare parts for us anymore, and what you can get usually is cheap foreign crap. Some pain killer, bailing wire, duct tape, and just plain meanness go a long way!

Our mutual friend has a few thumb issues going as well, and I'm hoping to do some work with him to help him out. Having torn the ligaments in both my thumbs (multiple times) I'm not sure how much help I'll actually be.

Forging lessons. Wish I lived closer. I'd be like that tick that you just can't get to on the back of your neck.

Well Sarah, slow learner is quite certain. Definitely.
And, sandlot football. And far more damaging, a training injury while sparring in martial arts. So severe I couldn't turn a doorknob.

And the slow learner part. You'd think that would have been enough. Took severing my Achilles, as well as tearing my ACL and MCL in a match after the thumb healed to convince me I might need to find a different activity to occupy my time.

Like obsessively buying knives!
